Engagement Pods

Definition

Engagement pods are a way for social media users to boost their follower count as well as engagement rates. Users form pods or groups and agree to follow each other's accounts and subsequently engage with each other's posts. On the surface, an account working with engagement pods may look like they have real engagement on their content but users are often blindly commenting and liking without truly engaging. Signs of a user working with an engagement pod include unusual spikes in engagement and generic comments on content. Another way social media users can artificially boost their account is through fake followers.
