Great Shade, Lightweight

Purchased this for hike in open country @ Philmont. It worked as expected, and stored easy when not in use. It's not fancy, but does exactly what you expect it should. I like the lightweight and breathability. I tried using the cape (detached from the hat) on another hat... and it worked, but not as well. My only criticism is that it is a slightly 'shallow' hat if you are used to the deeper ball caps. Otherwise, a great cap for hot sunny days.

Great neck coverage

While it may lack the "cool" factor, it has a cool-temps factor. The coverage for the back of the neck and side of face is really good. I got this for my dad who is recovering from a dermatology issue. It works well, without fuss.

Perfect for a canyon hike!

Amazing hat for the Grand Canyon- was super hot and sunny when we got down to the bottom near the Colorado River and was thrilled that it kept my head and neck covered and very cool during the very hot day! Wicks sweat away quickly and the light color and very lightweight fabric was great for the all day excursion. Easy to adjust the neck tie too to make sure the sides of my neck were protected as well. Amazing hat for the price!

Modular for convenience

Unlike other sun hats with a permanent neck shade, I appreciate that this hat is modular. On cloudy days, it performs, looks, and fits like a regular baseball cap.

Outstanding Protection

I’ve now used this hat on a hand full of long training runs, and during a marathon in 92 degree heat where tree coverage was minimal. This hat provided great protection and kept the sun off of my face, neck and ears. The cape detaches from the hat so you can roll with just the ball cap if you want. Just pay attention when removing it as getting it back on was trickier than I thought it would be. Definitely worth it.

I hate hats!

But love these!!! I've bought 4 just in case OR stops making them. I struggle to find hats to fit my massive dome, but these fit very comfortably. They're also light weight and not only block sun, mosquitoes, & ticks but also can be snugged to block wind from buffeting one's ears or retain a bit of warmth. The yellow, my fave, adds to conspicuity & safety.

One of the best trail hats on the market

Used this item for the first time on the high sierra trail and it was a game changer. I didn’t have to worry about getting my neck burned during the day and could easily take the back off in the morning and the evening. Doesn’t matter if you are a first timer or experienced hiker, this hat is awesome. The only criticism I have, is the built in vents on the side aren’t the most breathable so you can run a little warm if you have the hat on all day.

Great Protection and Adjustability

I’ve put this hat through the wringer and it holds up so nicely. On daily runs or long hikes through the Grand Canyon is my go-to. It breathes really well and protects you from the sun. There have been time where I’ve removed were I’ve taken the neck protection off while on the move and it’s so simple and fast. I also like when it hot there’s still good ventilation underneath.

This sun cap is excellent when I'm in exposed environments. I use it when I'm running on roads/mountains without tree coverage.

Best Running Hat

This hat is very comfortable and offers excellent sun protection. It is a smaller hat as in the headpiece is not deep like a trucker hat. I got a medium and it fits perfectly. Having a less deep headpiece makes it possible to wear sunglasses or over the ear earphones comfortably. The sun cape is attachable by to buttons. The adjustable chin strap allows you to keep sun protection even in windy conditions.

Almost perfect

The hat is lightweight and comfortable to wear. The draw string keeps the flaps from flying all over the place. My only gripe is the fastening system for the head strap being slightly more complicated. I like the snaps in the front of the bill, but the straps going through slits makes me not want to take the flap off, even when I don’t need it. Great for sun protection and dries very quickly.

More fun in the sun

Great hat! the neck covering helps so much keep the sun off your neck, packs well when not in use, didn't even need to weave it through the back strap just clip it to the brim and that was enough. Light weight, quick drying. Just be careful not snag any velcro on the side panel to avoid pulling.

Excellent addition to my summer wardrobe

It looks stupid but it’s comfortable, versatile, and stays on my head. The elastic band is slightly higher than most caps so it’s actually comfortable to wear with a low ponytail too.

The BEST trail hiking hat that I have owned

There is not a better hat on the market that keeps the sun off your head and neck. PLUS you do not overheat wearing this hat as you do with most others. The manufacturer did a design upgrade, relative to this same purchase two years ago....MUCH BETTER design, including a tighter fit for windy days...Adjustable tighter fit

Love the new shorter bill

I owned a previous generation of this sun hat and really love the shorter bill and easily removable neck drape. The buttons holding on the drape is a really clever solution. The had is fully adjustable, fits as tightly as you want and didn't blow off with some quicker runs through a windy gust. Also, the neck string is there in case you do lose it off your noggin.

I use this for hiking and running. What I like about the hat is the cover around your nape and neck that really covers my skin from direct sunlight and while wearing with a sunglass, I fell like I am under a shade. I highly recommend this.

Best hiking hat!

My old hiking hat brim always hit my backpack-saw the summer runner cap with the detachable cover on the neck-thought I’d try it out. I love it. It protects my neck from the sun. The brim is long and protects my face. I keep cool wearing it because it’s super light and lightweight. On hot days it drys quickly and lets air through. It’s a great find for runners but for me it’s a win when I backpack.

Excellent summer cap

Light, easy to pack and keeps your head from getting zapped on hot days. I used it for a 5 day outing and it held up against dirt, sweat and daily wear and tear. No issues with heat retention either. Easy to don and removable neck flap makes it that much more convenient. Inspired a colleague to purchase one as well. Let looking forward to many more hot days with this item. OR delivers again

Still perfect

I buy a new one of these every five years or so. Perfect fit, vents heat really well, and when the sun is really beating down the added neck cover is great.

Comfy, awesome coloring (off white), and blocks the sun. As a recent melanoma survivor, this gives me a great deal of comfort in heading out for a daytime run
