Tested by Weather and Questionable Decisions
I’ve used the Foray 3L both casually and in the field, including one rain-soaked hunt that got a little western on the drive out. In most conditions, this jacket does exactly what it’s supposed to do: it keeps the rain out and your morale mostly intact.
In anything short of a truly serious storm, it performs really well. During the kind of sideways, spiteful rain that feels personal, I couldn’t tell whether the bit of moisture I noticed was rain forcing its way in or just the universe reminding me who was in charge. Either way, that level of weather would have humbled most jackets.
It’s comfortable, functional, and doesn’t scream “technical shell” when worn around town, which I appreciate. The ventilation actually works, the fit is sensible, and it holds up when conditions go from inconvenient to mildly chaotic.
Final verdict: a solid, trustworthy rain jacket that handles real weather and questionable decisions with equal competence. If your definition of “rain” occasionally includes regret and poor forecasts, this one’s worth a look.
