So far so good

Definitely size up if you're built and want to layer underneath. I'm 5'6" 190lbs and stocky. Previously bought a Foray 3L in large and was big enough to wear with a t-shirt. Bought the Headwall in XL and much more comfortable.

Great Jacket

Recently purchased this coat as I needed an updated waterproof hard shell, specifically for a trip to Ireland. This shell held up well to the wind and driving rain while hiking. I like the pockets and their placements. The side zips are great for letting off excess heat while hiking. I will be using this for skiing as my outer shell, the Gore-Tex works well as always. This is not an insulated coat, it works as intended and keeps the elements out, keeping the user dry and comfortable while leaving enough room for layering.

great jacket for the rain and snow, it's come with me into the woods to cruise timber and to fall down ski slopes and has kept me dry the whole time. So far it has proved to be just as durable as advertised, holding up well against a few bushwacks through greenbriar and blackberry. If you need bombproof rain protection I would keep this product in mind.

Great all around jacket

Really love this jacket. Pocket layout is great, with enough space for skins, snacks and whatever else the day may need. I've used it ski for some late spring touring and in some absolute downpour rainy walks around the neighborhood and it's kept me dry. In terms of fit, I'm 6'3" and about 215lbs. I bought an XL and the fit is nice, with room for a puffy underneath. If I was doing a ton of technical climbing with a pack or in a harness, I might size up for a little extra wiggle room, but works great for what I need it to do.

First impressions

I received this jacket after the lifts closed so no actual experience. The make is of typical OR high quality and it weighs less than my old 3L Gor-Tex hard shell.

Great!!

Great fit. Really wonderful in PNW wet weather. Plenty of room to layer under. Only two things I wish it had: a better way to get it cinched towards the bottom and wrist gaiters. Aside from those, amazing!

I’ve got about 10 days, most of them during storms and this jacket is great so far. Hard shell fabric seems to be durable. No issues with any zippers and the fit of the Large is good for me. I’m 5’ 10”, 185lb athletic build. Fabric isn’t too loud and crinkly either. So far much more pleased than I have been with Helly Hansen new non-pfas fabrics.

This jacket is really lightweight and compared to all the other competition for goretex jackets I would recommend this one because its material is nice the water beads and keeps you warm and dry no complaints about this jacket and also good for going to the snow.

great 3 layer jacket, but the addition of the side zip vents that go to the bottom are genius. much more useful than under-pit zips

Great Fit/Quality: Some Drawbacks

Jacket performs just as intended. So far it is durable and keeps you warm when paired with base layers. I underestimated how little stretch there is so in some positions (hunched back with arms extended forward) the jacket limits mobility. It fits well otherwise which gives me mobility in just about anything else. This jacket works well for snow sports but I'd be a little cautious doing technical climbing it it as you may find yourself limited at times.

This jacket is great. I love the full zippers on the side for venting. This jacket is great for layering and keeping me dry. Looks fantastic too.

Excellent jacket, except the fit is for tall, thin built people. I am short and stocky and the fit is not as good as other companies jackets.
