Amazing

2 Expert Recommendation Content Outdoor research gave me this sample to try. I have been in the back country setting in all weather conditions. I am mainly in the white mountains where the temperatures vary, this coat, which fits true to size worked well as an outerlayer and midlayer. I think this piece is a critical part of anyones attire in the backcountry for a day trip or an extended multi day trip. This is a worthwhile piece to have in your collection. I have tried many brands, but I have never been so impressed with a layering piece and the versatility it has along with the extreme COMFORT. I love the oversized pockets that can keep my hands warm. It is so lightweight yet warm. It could be used in the cold winter days or even as I’m heading out for a chilly evening on water paddle boarding! The hood is form fitting so it doesn't move around when you are moving. The elastic cord on the bottom makes it a form fit so it doesn't ride up on you. It is super compact that it'll break down into the pocket making it just over the size of a softball. OR has been my GO TO for gloves and sun hoodies but this product has taken the lead which is hard to do in my favorites. -Meg

I want every article of clothing I own to feel like this

3 Expert Recommendation Content Upon first touch, this jacket is so soft and extremely comfortable next-to-skin - it rivals the inside of some higher-end sleeping bags, honestly. I want to cocoon myself into it, if they made this into a puffy camp-onesie I would buy several. Anyways, the color is similar to a light grayish-marshmallow and I was quite hesitant to take it anywhere due to the ease of dirt showing, but it’s actually grown on me these last few weeks! I’ve used it on planes as a blanket to keep me warm, in Michigan forests and beaches for sunrise walks, on hikes in Idaho and Oregon at the summit, and most recently for chilly morning briefings while on a wildland fire assignment. Despite the material being super soft, it has held up surprisingly well to being pretty carelessly shoved into and pulled out of bags, hiking through mild brush, and moving lots of gear around/rubbing up against trailers and UTVs, etc. Once winter hits, that’ll be the true warmth test for this jacket - but for temps ranging between 40-60 this is quite a comfortable and cozy choice. It has enough stretch for literally any activity and it’s incredibly light to the point that I often forget I’m wearing it. Also, the fit is perfect - I’m usually a medium and thankfully it’s true to size, even when I washed and dried it a few times (no shrinkage). It’s also breathable enough to be active in without getting too sweaty or gross, yet still keeps the wind from chilling you. It has some water-resistance, so a light mist or a little bit of rain won’t slow you down. I like it more than a few of my jackets from other brands - Outdoor Research clothing and gear just always fits and performs better. I like that the hood isn’t too bulky and doesn’t get in the way. The pockets are lined with a brushed fabric so it’s a very nice feel on your hands. The whole jacket packs down to quite small into the pocket which is ideal for packing (but for ease of use/access, you could also ungraciously shove it into your pack like I usually do). I’d recommend this jacket to anyone and everyone. Even if you never set foot into the woods, this jacket will serve you well bopping around the city. It’s durable, warm, extremely comfortable, and has some really thoughtful features. Huge thank you to Outdoor Research for giving me this free product to try!!

Transcendent for sure!

4 Expert Recommendation Content Outdoor Research gave me this Transcendent Down Hoodie to product test for free. I have a lot of puffy jackets and hoodies, so I wasn't expecting much difference, but I was wrong! I first took this down hoodie out on a fishing charter for Kokanee Salmon in 35 degree temps out on a windy large lake. Zero wind got through this down, and I out-fished most folks that were hiding under the cover of the boat! Two weeks later I went backpacking up into the high Uinta mountains at 10500ft elevation. This hoodie was the key factor in keeping me comfortable and able to stay out the entire 3 day trip. It is so soft of a material, but I found it to be very tough and durable when hiking near some branches and brushing through some scrub trying to find a hidden lake to fish. My personal favorites about this piece are the softness of the material itself. It is so supple and malleable to your body without looking like a marshmallow and sounding swishy! I loved that. The Ladies sizing was amazing, and I felt like it was the greatest fit in a jacket/hoodie that I could ever hope for. I love the warm front hand pockets as well as the inner zip chest pocket. My phone stayed in the inside left drop pocket perfectly so that I could keep my hands warm in the front pockets without my phone taking up all the space. I even really liked the color! I was afraid that with my rough and tumble lifestyle, it would be stained and filthy right away but it wipes off easily and doesn't attract dirt. Overall I would highly recommend this piece from OR! Top Notch gear equals great adventures outdoors!
