Best knife in my kit

This knife is very well the most crucial part of my hunting kit. I bought this to cut down on things I carry while on a hunt. The exchangeable blades on it eliminate the need to sharpen a conventional knife while quartering or boning out an animal. If you even need to swap the blades out. They are extremely sharp and hold an edge very well. I would recommend this knife for any level of hunter. The only thing I would change is getting the zip blade version with the razor blade to avoid carrying extra kt when ounces count.

As far as a skinning and butchering knife in the backcountry this is my second favorite. My favorite for when weight is a concern is the EDC model because it is much lighter. I have used fixed blades and havalons and prefer this knife by a long way. I can go through an entire elk with one blade.. It is not as sturdy as a fixed blade knife and I do not treat is as such. The blades are also very sharp and fairly sharp after cleaning an entire animal such as and elk or mule deer. I will never butcher an animal in the woods without this style of knife again. There are a few disadvantages. First, grime gets caught in between the 3 plies of sheet metal that the blade is retained with. This makes it a little difficult to clear but not bad. This handle is easier to clean than the EDC due to lack of recesses. If you are not concerned about the extra few ounces this is a great upgrade over the EDC models.

Perfect for me

I use this knife while hunting, mostly for field dressing. Replaceable blades are a game changer. Nothing is more dangerous than a dull knife. In 8 seconds, it's a sharp knife again. Bones, ligaments, dirt, rocks; all hazards to a knife. All present where I use it most. Changing the blade is a game changer. Fantastic tool to have!

Game Changer

Hunting and Everyday I was skeptical a replacement blade style knife was for me. Throughout my childhood and adult life, I packed and used several folding and fixed blade knives to get the job done. I'm not a fan of stopping every 30 minutes in the cold to sharpen a knife. I was made a believer on my recent Colorado elk hunting trip. I received one of these last year for Christmas and wasn't entirely trusting of it so I packed four other knives and a bone saw. Fast forward and this knife replaced all others in my pack as it effortlessly gutted and skinned two large cows. One blade per animal, no lost time to sharpening blades and reduced weight of only needing one. Cleanup is really easy, pop out and discard the old blade and washout the frame the blade sits in. My buddy throws his in the dishwasher and it's been holding up for years like that. These blades are freaking strong. I use it as my EDC on the ranch in Idaho and it works great. I'm looking to get some longer blades to process my own elk next year.

Gutting, Skinning, Caping

This has become my go to knife that rides in my hunting pack on every hunt. I have used this knife on multiple elk and mule deer for gutting, skinning, capping and quartering. When I am fatigued or have cold hands, I like the ease of changing the blade. I use a carbide sharpener to touch up the razor blade when it starts to dull and they are strong enough to process a full elk without changing the blade. I have lost one of these knifes in the field after dark gutting and quartering an elk so I prefer the blaze orange visibility.

Wouldn't go back to standard knife. Amazing to field dress animals with. A little tough to clean as fat, hair, and blood can clog up where the blade locks in. An extra minute of cleaning back at camp and you're ready to go again. Stays sharp through an entire elk. Even though it's simple to snap on another blade, you can get some extra use out of it if you touch the edge up on a steel. Wouldn't be without it.

Fantastic Hunting Knife

Expert Recommendation Content I recently was able to utilize this knife for a backcountry elk hunt in Utah. Pros: The blades are extremely sharp, durable and easy to change. I was surprised to be able to quarter and skin 2 full bull elk with only 3 blades. The handle is very stout and has a great grip which prevents slippage in sloppy situations. This knife left all of my hunting partners jealous as they were constantly reaching for their sharpeners. Cons: The knife is a bit of a bugger to clean, especially when your dealing with blood, hair and such from processing in the backcountry. The blade holder and handle have thin slot like openings that hold onto gunk very well, and are difficult to get cleared out. Overall this is a fantastic knife that i would 100% recommend. After using two of its other competitors in the past, this is the only knife i choose to carry.

Excellent piece of gear.

Small, lightweight, foldable, and sharp...very sharp! Having the ability to swap out blades while field dressing elk/deer drastically cuts down time if needing to resharpen a blade. Additionally, the blades can be resharpened back to a razors edge. only drawback is there is no gut hook for ripping which would make it even more useful. works great for digging out the ball joints on the hips...no saw needed. just have to be mindful when digging around to not hit the blade release button.

RazorLite is an exceptional product at and exceptional value

My wife says I have a problem with knives. I own a dozen pocket knives. I demand the best kitchen knives. I have several custom forged knives. A huge variety of companies and producers are on my list. But when comparing replaceable blade hunting knives, the outdoor edge RazorLite wins by a mile. I have similar knives from more expensive competitors and this knife feels better in the hand, changing the blades is much easier (like you don't have to carry an extra multitool to change the blade), and it is durable. Its everything you need in a hunting knife and it shaves the weight of carrying a sharpener or spare blade in your pack. Bonus for the blaze orange handle making it easy to see when dropped or put down while skinning an animal.

Never worry about a dull knife again

I’ve been using a fixed blade knife for a long time for skinning and always had to bring along a stone to keep it sharp after running it multiple times over bones. I used this knife recently on a pronghorn hunt and it was nice having a razor sharp knife and not having to worry about keeping it sharp. It does get clogged up where the blade slides in. Just be careful trying to remove it with bloody hands in the field. Makes skinning and quartering a lot smoother.

Great compact knife for field dressing an animal.

Blade is very sharp and made dressing two animals easy. I like the compact size and I specifically chose the bright orange so that I can find it easily outdoors. I took away one star on rating because the blade release button is on the right side of the handle exactly where a right-handed person places their thumb when using the knife. I accidentally released the blade several times while field dressing the animals and luckily didn't cut my finger. I would prefer the button be on the other side of the handle, as most people are right-handed, and this would greatly reduce the chance of accidental blade release and cutting my fingers. Great, sharp knife otherwise!

Used it with a deer and elk

This was really easy to use and when my Blade Dulled it swaped out relatively easy. I did get some blood on it which dried so swapping the blade did take my leatherman pliers but it was because of the dried blood. Other than that hiccup, which I think is outside the norm, it was easy to use and sharp. Love it.

Entire elk done with 3 blades

Last season I was blessed with a nice 6x6. The RazorLite was absolutely a stud in the field. Blade 1 easily skinned the elk up to the thick neck hide. Blade 2 finished the neck and got into the quartering. Blade 3 finished off the delicious cuts and hamburger scraps. Super easy to swap fresh blades out and can resharpen the used blades back at camp. Just a heads up, I still bring my Damascus steel knife for the tough cutting/prying against joints and bones. I didn't feel like possibly breaking my brand new RazorLite! Thanks Outdoor Edge!

Great convenience

Great for what it is. Not strong blades, but sharp and easy to replace and get back to cutting. Convenient for field dressing without having to sharpen. Blades are surprisingly secure. Used to field dress an elk with one blade. Would likely need two blades of boning out meat. Can also get different blades for different applications. This is my second one of these, lost the first in a bit of a horse rodeo and ordered a replacement the next day.

Great knife

I have used various knives for hunting, fishing and camping, but this knife surpasses all the others I have used. I have used this knife for years and it will be hard for me to purchase another brand. Unlike some of the other knives, with replaceable blades, this knife makes it easy to change the blades with less likely hood of injuring yourself. This a great product for any outdoor enthusiasts.

Does exactly what it’s supposed to

I used this knife this past weekend to field dress an elk. The blades are very very sharp (be careful, I sliced myself a few times) and make skinning and cutting up animals very easy. The blades are easy to replace, even when gunked up with hair and meat. I didn’t have any issues with the knife slipping when it got bloody. I highly recommend this knife to anyone who’s looking. Also fyi, it took me 4 of the blades to field dress an elk, that’s with a friend helping with his own outdoor edge knife.

I used this to skin and break down two deer. The ability to trade out blades made the process go smoothly. Althought these blades are sharp enough you can get through alot of animal before you have to change the blade out.

Worked Well In the Field

I had the opportunity to use this knife to field dress a deer on a recent hunting trip. It performed much better than any of my other field knives. It is surgically sharp and does an amazing job. If it gets dull, the blades are easy to replace. It is durable, packs easily, and is easy to handle even when your hands are damp. I recommend this to any hunter.

Must have in your pack

I have used this knife for many years and don't plan on using anything else for field care of deer and elk. Many of my friends colleagues and family members get this knife as a gift. This last year I received a pic from a retired co-worker I gave this knife to. He was on a back country mule deer hunt in Idaho using this knife I gave him.

I took a doe this year and the gutting, skinning, processing was made much easier by this tool. I also used 2 different knives to get a feel for a comparison under the same conditions. I had to rehone the other blades several times, but only needed to change the blade twice through the entire process.

Excellent Knife For Continued Butchering

This knife is sharp and can fully quarter multiple animals with a single blade. When it begins to dull, you can swap blades in seconds and continue butchering without wasting any precious time. The exchangeable blade do not sacrifice any durability or backbone of the knife.

These are a must for any hunter. The ability to keep a sharp blade without the bulk or delay of a sharpener is huge. One blade is generally good for several small game animals and I use 1-2 blades on big game. It is easy to swap blades and clean the knife body when you're done.

Fantastic knife for field dressing

We have used this knife to field dress several deer. The knife stays sharp even though we used the knife to skin and quarter the animal. I replaced the blade after each animal. However, I suspect that I could process 2 deer or 1 elk without changing blades.
