Lightweight and compact

Perfect for backpacking, pretty close to the ground for seat height, makes it less comfortable for car camping. Definitely higher quality than competitors. I love the chair

I LOVE this chair, it lives in my car all summer long, light enough to strap to my pack while backpacking, so comfortable that I don't miss having a giant camp chair when I'm car camping.

I am extremely pleased with this chair. I have used it for everything from hunting, backpacking, sporting events, and even used it once on a two day rooftop over watch at work. It holds up and is so nice to have.

Durable and reasonably light

Buying more of these. I’ve had one for about 5 years already and love it. A little heavier than some other chairs but solid structure and robust construction while still being lightweight enough to bring on most trips. Highly recommended.

Great for beach, camping, hanging out

These pack down small enough to pretty easily bring most places. You can toss it into a backpack, tote bag, duffel, etc., without much bulk or weight. Comfortable, not too tippy, seems durable. Not sure I'd take along on a backpacking trip. Setup and takedown is just mildly clunky with the poles, but I can't think of a better solution either to keep pole length down. Would buy again!

A budget friendly alternative to other offerings

This Big Agnes Mica Basin chair has proven to be the perfect addition for so many of my needs. Whether I'm backpacking, camping, at the crag, or sitting around the bonfire, this chair has been perfect. It packs down small, is relatively lightweight, and is extremely durable. I also happen to own a more expensive chair from a different company. And while I may not be doing any ultralight backpacking, for my needs, I really can't tell the difference. TLDR: This chair is lightweight, compact, extremely durable, and the price is just right!

Lightweight chair

This chair is great for what it is. Obviously these super light, packable chairs are not the most sturdy for sitting on hills but overall this is the best packable chair that I've tried. Super easy to set up as well.

Perfect camping chair

I take the Mica Basin Camp Chair on all my backpacking trips, and it’s become a must-have! Despite being super lightweight and compact, it’s incredibly comfortable. The design provides solid back support, and it’s easy to set up and pack down. I’ve used it on long hikes, and it still feels like a luxury to sit in after a day on the trail. It’s perfect for anyone looking for comfort without the weight. Highly recommend for backpackers who want to travel light but still enjoy a cozy spot to rest!

Absolutely worth a little extra weight

Expert Recommendation Content I've used this chair several times and love it. My wife and I each have one and, every time we go hiking or camping, it comes along and the kids always fight over it. We just took it on a 21 mile overnight backpacking trip where we were worried about any extra weight and we didn't even consider leaving this behind. The others with us all had sit pads and they said that they were definitely getting chairs when we got home.

Comfort and pack-ability

I have used countless brands of camping chairs over the years for numerous trips into the woods, beach days, camping and sideline spectating for kids sporting events. This is the APEX for efficiency in the world of ratio’s, for comfortable and packable! You can try to find better, but I seriously doubt there’s a better chair out there.

A decent little chair

No neck/limited back support, but it is a small bucket chair, so that's to be expected. Extremely portable, relatively easy setup once you get it the first time (the pegs are spaced somewhat far apart and you have to put the chair canvas on them in a certain order, or it won't fit). No major complaints for what it is, but wouldn't want to sit in it for more than a couple hours at a time.

Can't go wrong with big agnes chairs. Bought this as I'm a little bigger and for certain trips its worth the extra weight vs the UL one.

Good single night chair

It’s a good weight and size for a single or double overnight trip. I personally wouldn’t bring it over 30-60 mile trips due to size and weight compared to just sitting on a seat cushion. At the end of a hiking day setting up camp and having a nice comfy place to sit while watching the sunset in the mountains this thing is awesome! Great durable quality and feels solid compared to other brands.

I purchased this chair for backpacking deep into the backcountry, and wanted a chair for some added comfort in camp for multi-day excursions. This chair is lightweight yet very durable. Setup and take down is quick and simple. Though I've only used it about 10 days total, the material seems to be very strong, and I expect this chair to last a long time!

Great, Comfortable Chair!

My wife and I love our chairs! They're really comfortable, and (somewhat) lightweight. If you're a "cut the toothbrush in half" hiker/camper, this is probably a little bulky and heavy for you. We took them 7 miles into the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, and loved them. Great price and quality!

Backpacking with comfort

I love my camp chair. It is fairly light (if you are an ounce counter, it is not the lightest out there) and extremely comfortable and sturdy. Other camp chairs feel flimsy and ready to collapse but not the Mica Basin. Packs into pretty compact bag, I have never had an issue fitting it into packs. Not that great for winter camping unless you put an insulation buffer on it, but what camp chair is?

So comfortable…

It’s a little heavier than some of the other popular ultralight camp chairs but I think it’s work the extra pound for the sheer comfort. I have found with some of the other popular brands your seat just can’t get enough purchase to be comfortable but the mica basin is luxurious compared to those with ample room for your rear end! I also liked that the legs fit directly into the main frame instead of a flimsy piece of plastic. Time will tell if it’s better at holding up on the trail.

Best chair for the price. Packs down very small and is relatively light. I have used other camp chairs that were smaller and lighter. This chair has great back support and is higher off the ground compared to others. I also enjoy that everything on the chair is color coded so you know what parts of the frame connect to the different pockets on the chair. Very durable too!

I recently purchased the Mica Basin Camp Chair, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! This chair is incredibly comfortable, making it perfect for both camping trips and watching parades. The padded seat and backrest provide excellent support, allowing me to relax for hours without any discomfort. One of the standout features is its lightweight design, which makes it easy to carry around, whether I’m heading to a campsite or finding the perfect spot for a parade. The durable fabric and sturdy frame give me confidence that it will hold up well over time. I also appreciate how easy it is to set up and pack away. It folds down compactly, fitting perfectly into my car's trunk without taking up much space. Overall, the Mica Basin Camp Chair has quickly become my go-to for outdoor events. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy and convenient seating option for camping or enjoying parades!

Nice camp chair but not great in the snow

I bought this chair to use during ski race photography sessions but overlooked the detail that the legs were narrow aluminum tubing and ended up piercing right through the hard pack snow base of the ski runs. If there was another section of aluminum tube to connect the bases of the legs it would be able to sit on top of the snow instead of pierce into it. On firm ground, it's a great chair but I'm back to searching for a good chair to use on the slopes.

This chair doesn't pack down super small, so for bike packing or hiking, it'll take up a long amount of space (I also have a Skyline UL chair, its is amazing for bike camping. But otherwise, it is fantastic. Sets up in a flash, super easy to use easy to clean. For its size, it is very light. If space isn't an issue, having a chair with a back is fantastic after a long day, or just for hanging out. It does sit you a little low, so if you have an issue getting up from chairs, that COULD be a problem (not in my personal experience, though). The back doesn't come very far up, but it has always been plenty comfortable.
