This surprised me with how comfortable it was for how loght it is. I do wish that I would have bought the wider one, this was a bit narrow for me.

Rugged and comfy

This is such a comfortable pad! My front county camping experience has been seriously elevated since using it. I sleep so well on it. It’s also super durable and rugged. It’s a bit bulky, but if you take care to get the air out and strap it, it doesn’t take up too much space. This is a great pad for all levels of experience and will help make your camping experience much more comfy!

I've used this pad countless times hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. I think it is just enough padding to do the job for comfort and to also get you off the ground a little bit for some insulation in colder weather.

This double wide pad is pretty awesome! Plenty of room for me and the dog and then some. I've used it down to 10F and was very comfortable. Plenty of R value and cushioning to keep you both off the ground and warm. The one and only possible draw back is the size ans weight. Then again, this is not a hiking ground pad.

Excellent for Car Camping

I use this pad for my truck bed set-up and it fits the width and length requirements perfectly. This, paired with the fact that it is also comfortable makes this a must have. As a big guy at 6'3" 340+ lbs and a side sleeper I do add another layer on top of this for more cushioning but anyone lighter might find this to be adequate by itself.

Super Plush Pad

This thing is great! While it's obviously for 2 people, I like to use this solo when I don't need to save space/weight on my trips. It provides lots of room for me to sprawl out when sleeping. It's nice and thick so I hardly notice that I'm on the ground!

great value car camping mattress

easy set up, comfortable, and well-insulated. This is my go-to mattress now for sleeping in my truck and have slept in temps as low as 15F. It self-inflates to maybe 50-75% full and then you have to inflate it manually the rest of the way. The valves with the 1-way flange is clever and convenient and allows for easy inflation.

Great Lightweight Pad

I’ve slept several nights on this pad so far and it is easy to inflate and stays inflated even over multiple nights being left inflated. Good length for me (5’ 9”) and width is sufficient. Easy to deflate and store with the two straps that come with. Comfortable, simple, works well as a mid-tier pad for a couple nights of camping or backpacking.

Comfy pad that I've used many times for car camping. The self inflating baffles make it very hard to roll up and I find this to be a 2 person job to get it small enough for the storage straps it comes with

Great, comfort focused sleeping pad

Used this sleeping pad for car camping in an attempt to find a more comfortable solution than smaller air only pads. The pad served this purpose greatly and I am definitely planning on taking this out in the future. Additionally, this pad is significantly warmer than an air only pad. Despite the cold weather I ultimately did not require more than the lighter sleeping bag I had planned on layering over. The only con I can see with this pad are that despite being self inflating, I have had to add air manually each time to get it to inflate in a reasonable time.

Car Camping or spare matress for company - works well

Unit is thick and no doubt tear resistant. No doubt it will last many trips. Does not pack down very small, so definitely limited to car camping at best. As with most "self inflating" air mattresses, this one doesn't really self inflate. And after leaving open to let air in, the amount of air left to fill the double wide will require a pump (sack pump or portable battery pump) or you will be spending an hour blowing up with your lungs.

Bought the wrong one, used it for backpacking anyway!

I was an idiot and ordered the self inflating pad as apposed to the air pad, but I took it on the trip anyway since it matched the size of my exising airpad. Could easily take backpacking on short trips since it is only a few lbs. Works as good as any other pad.

Perfect car-camping mattress

This is the first mattress I've ever purchased for myself that would not be for long-distance solo hiking. Most of my camping experience is on long backpacking trips, but I do like to sometimes go camping for the weekend and sleep in comfort. I'm using this two-person, insulated, self-inflating mattress in a 3-person Big-agnes tent, so it fits comfortably, with a few inches on either side of the mattress to spare.

Super Comfy

This mat provided some of the most comfortable tent camping we've experienced in a while. We took it on a week long camping road trip through MT, and it served its purpose well, being easier to set up that an air mattress. It is kind of bulky though, packed size is still the size of a medium duffel bag. And rolling it back up is best done with two people, it's a bit of a wrestling match. Overall, worth it for quick set-up and comfort.

I find this mattress to be very comfortable. You do have to unroll it and let it sit a while for the self inflating aspect of this mattress properly inflate. Then you can also blow into one of the nozzles to inflate more if desired. It's big and cumbersome, so obviously I wouldn't recommend it for hiking, but for car camping or at a canground, this mattress (in my opinion) is a great purchase.

This product is fantastic and the most comfortable sleeping pad I have used. The foam inside the pad helps it inflate and adds some nice cushion. Size is perfect for two people with ample room to roll around a bit. Only down side is the size and weight. When rolled up it is bit big but works fine for car camping. Also deflating and rolling up takes some time to get all the air out. Overall a great pad and would recommend to anyone who wants to sleep on a cloud.

Luxurious!

Expert Recommendation Content I got this for the back of my van and it is awesome. Thick enough to keep this side sleeper happy and very quiet. I haven’t camped in the cold so I can’t say much about the R value, but I generally sleep hot and on a warm night I didn’t overheat, which I was a little worried about. The only downside is that it will only self inflate about halfway. Not a big deal though, no self inflating pad inflates fully on its own. I got a cheap air mattress pump that runs on 12v to finish it off. Overall very happy with it

Great for extended cold weather camping

I spent 2 months with my girlfriend traveling the west from October thru December camping from 5 degrees to 75 degrees from mountain passes in the Rockies to spending the night on California coast and in Death Valley. We used the big Agnes dream island paired with the air core ultra double wide pad with the big Agnes hinman below in a 3 person 4 season tent. The hinman is super comfortable even on the rockiest of tent sites and the auto inflating is a very nice feature the worked perfectly. This is best for car camping as it is very bulky. Packing it up has a learing curve to it but after a few times you’ll get the hang of it takes a bit of skill to get the air out. Overall it really insulates the tent in cold or warm weather. After using this for two months I would highly recommend it as it adds a lot of comfort factor for camping especially for extended adventures.

This is a monster of a sleeping pad that is almost like sleeping on your bed at home. It's definitely too big for bringing hiking, but for campground trips, it's a great way to make sure you get great sleep. We brought them on our first family camping trip this spring and they were a big difference maker for my wife and me. Make sure to let them self-inflate over a few hours to avoid having to blow them up yourself.

Perfect car camping pad

This pad fits really nicely in the trunk of our Rav, its comfortable-- it almost feels too cush for sleeping in the trunk of a car-- and it rolls up to be about the size of a large backpacking tent, so unlike a foam pad, it doesn't take up the whole trunk space when you're not using it. Thick and comfortable

For what it is, this is great. This does not pack down small and never will, but it is, of course, way comfier than any light weight inflatable backpacking. pad. It's about as close to an air mattress as you can get and insulates well from the cold. That being said, this is really tough to pack down to even a manageable size. I'm used to foam pads and inflatable pads but this thing takes a lot of effort and might to get it into the straps it comes with. It didn't come with a stuff sack either and I'm not sure if one is made for it. I'd recommend getting this for car camping locally but it would be tough to pack for flying anywhere.

Just awesome, but heavy!

Camped about a week on this pad. It is quiet, incredibly comfortable, and a great layer between you and the ground. Inflates easily and takes little effort blowing up after self-inflation complete. I took it on a backcountry 5-day trip and in hindsight a pad this heavy that doesn't roll up super compact maybe isn't the wisest choice. Purchased the AXL Air to offset those shortcomings, but you can bet this pad will be used on all camping not requiring me to pack it around! Just awesome otherwise. Great job Big Agnes!

I finally decided to get some car camping stuff so my friends won't laugh at the guy in the tiny UL backpacking tent. This this is plush and as comfortable as my regular mattress. So far only used two nights, temp was about 39-40 and paired with the Camp Robber Bedroll I was warm and sooo comfortable. If you are looking at this item you probably are aware that is is pretty heavy. It is also really bulky, even folded in half and rolled up this will take up a lot of real estate in the back of your car. The only ding is that BA didn't include a sack to help blow it up.

Works perfectly for my intended use which is car/base camping. I use it as an insulating layer for my cot and it offers a nice layer of cushion while keeping my back warm. Used this a couple dozen times in the last 6 months. I could not get over how well I slept on this pad! More than large enough for one person and super thick. The downside is, being for large and thick, it takes longer to compress and stow. The dual check valves does help facilitate compressing/stowing. And is heavy- NOT for backpacking, but great for car camping. Big Agnes would better serve its customers with more thorough instructions and video. Great car camping pad

I love this pad and am super happy I bought it. It's big, but not super heavy and I think actually does roll back up pretty well. It does not self-inflate though (I don't think I've ever had a self-inflating pad that actually did that), and the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the 4 inch still actually takes a good bit of blowing up to get firm. I've slept on the 1.5 inch, and wanted more cushion, but actually think I would order the 2.5 if I could go back in time because I bet it would still be super comfy, take up a little less room, and be a bit easier to inflate. Overall though, I love this pad for camping and would totally recommend.

I have absolutely loved this pad. It has worked great for car camping in a tent but it also fits perfectly in a 6'5" truck bed. Extremely comfortable but you pay for that with its pack up size. I have paired it with a dream island 35 and I has given me some of the best sleep while in the outdoors. I would recommend to anyone looking for a pad that prioritizes comfort over pack size and weight. The only thing I don't care for are the packing straps. I bought the doublewide 4-inch pad for maximum comfort when car camping. It's a fantastic pad that makes sleeping in a tent so much nicer. I would guess it's not as nice as the more premium options, but it's great if you have a limited budget. The pad took 72 hours to fully inflate the first time but inflated quickly at the campsite. Make sure you inflate the pad once before your trip! Pros: - Super comfy - Very warm - Relatively packable when rolled up - Good price point - Micro-adjustable inflation - Soft and pretty quiet materials Cons: - Tapered size reduces the usable space of the pad. It can feel a little cramped with two people if anyone is a restless sleeper. - It's a little tough to roll back up. It's doable with one person but better with two.

I'm about 200 lb and my wife is only about 130, and we both could sleep on this anyway. We'd liked back front side. You never feel the dirt or roots beneath us. It is very slow to inflate and obviously it's heavy, this is for car camping not backpacking. No resolution for the wait, but if you bring an inflator you can pump it up faster. Also, it stayed inflated all four nights without any noticeable loss of air or cushion. So great product all around.

For Teardrop Camper

Our use is a little unusual. This 4" thick pad lies under a 4" thick memory foam mattress in our teardrop camper. The benefit is a lighter mattress weight overall and the insulated air cushion. The "potential" drawback may be the risk of the BA mattress deflating with time; but as of several trips there has been no issue. My hesitation for 8 of 10 recommendation to someone else is solely based on the manner in which we use it as opposed to the intended use. However, if you plan on dropping a memory foam mattress on top of this air mattress, I cannot recommend it enough.
