Gorgeous boots but sizing is tricky.

If you have a chance to try these on in person, that's your best bet on sizing! I wear a 9, ordered an 8.5, which were still too large. Return shipping was $27 and I settled on the 8. I think I could fit into a 7.5, but my bunions like a little extra space. The sizing recommendations online describe the kick test and the slip test - but with a boot this stiff, I think some initial heel slip is inherent. (I actually went to a local boot fitter who agreed with this.) I've now taken these lovelies for several hikes 6-12 miles long on variable terrain. I've worn moleskin on my ankles as a precaution, and found the boot supportive and protective. The leather around the leg is very soft, the lock in feature for the lacing helps keep the boots tight, though the laces don't stay tied even in a double knot. I plan for this to be my go-to boot for year round hiking and backpacking!

Great shoes

Perfect for week ankles like mine! Super confortable (never had any blister even when new) and easy to tight. I used them intensively, guiding a via ferrata daily for 3 summers and the sole is just getting "flat" this year. Downside : they are really heavy and the beautiful aesthetic goes pretty quickly even with good care.

Third time is the charm

Finally a boot I can keep. Tried 2 styles prior to this: the 996 Voiz which squeezed one ankle and the 330 Marie which squeezed my toes. This boot has best toebox size and is a keeper. Sturdy, well-built and able to stand up to the Sierra Glacial rock. Not an ultralight backpacking boot though; each boot weighs 2lbs.

No Breaking-in Necessary

I was thankful that I selected the correct size when I ordered them. Ordering boots online is a dangerous gamble, but it paid off for me. These boots were perfect because I needed mountain ready attire for my Forest Service job. They keep my feet dry and comfortable. Take caution and pad your ankles. That support is lacking.
