The Best Combat Boot I've Worn

After 20+ years of military life, this was the best combat boot I've ever worn. Originally discovered these back in 2005 or 2006. These are the only boots I wore after that and I highly recommended to everyone. All things considered, these are the most comfortable, sure-footed boots in a broad range of environments. Maybe not the best in extreme conditions, but will see you through 90% of daily use.

Rugged Ruck Ready

Context: current military (Scout PL) over a decade in. Size 14. Mideast tested and approved boots. In the past I purchased both Bifida and NFS. The bifida are field and mountain boots when I knew we would be moving over sharp loose rocks. The NFS was for training and garrison. Pros: 1. The Bifida is a very rugged and supportive version of the T8. It handled the mountains very well, the outsole held up to constant cutting of the sharp rocks and shale. Ruck miles went without a hitch! 2. Flat lacing is comfortable (once adjusted correctly). See below regarding the ankle ball bearing. 3. Ergonomics of the boot are outstanding. I can tell that my weight rests on the ball of my foot and engages my muscles appropriately. (at least that's what my chiropractor said?) my foot dyno agrees. Downsides: 1. It took me a hot minute to dial in the lacing to stop heel slippage. Wasn't sure after a week of waiting for it to break in. Readjusted the laces and then had to adjust laces on top of the foot. Once dialed in, all was great. 2. After 1 deployment and 2 years of rotated use I did develop minor cracking in the outsole where the ball of the foot constantly flexed. Things that were middle of the road: 1. Drying time. Got the boots soaked in gulf of Aden and at Benning. Took an hour or two for the uppers to be dry again using active drying (where you change socks, and keep walking). 2. Stitching. All my stitching held together over the life of the boot. It did require some TLC from a lighter to clean up minor fraying every now and then. 3. The ankle ball bearing. For me it was okay. Took that week to break in and the leather to stretch where it didn't dig into my ankle. Several others find it annoying/painful and just skip them when lacing. Overall I will buy this boot again for military service. They are great boots, top recommend for field and mountainous use. Go NFS for garrison and Fobbitry. Note: I wear merino blend socks at all times in my boots. Smartwool, darn tough, and Duluth to be specific. Hope this review helps.

Best Ruck and land movement boot

These boots have lasted from 2019 until now 2024 and they are a great out door and battle movement boot. I have used them un rough terrain over seas and in CONUS. They are not the best for driving sometimes but that is my personal experience. Its definitely a beginner boot.

Great Boots!

I am currently on my second pair. The quality is great, they are comfortable in most environments, and have seemed to last for the longest for me out of any boot I have used in the field and on deployment, from the heat of Kuwait, to the rocky terrain of Afghanistan, and to the woods stateside. The boots are great and versatile, the thick laces are quality and have never frayed. My one and only recommendation is to swap out the insoles to some Dr Schol’s for that all day comfort.

Best Overall Combat Boot

The Garmont T8 Bifida may be on the heavier side of boots, they are by far the most Supportive and comfortable boots I have ever worn. Minimal break in period, and my feet feel great after a 14 hour day in full kit. The only boot ive worn that can perform as well on a 20k ruck march as they do on a 2 week field problem. And still be an amazing day to day boot in garrison.

Best Overall Army Boot

I have worn these type of harmony’s for my day to day boots for the last 8 years of my career. They provide good support and great ankle stability which makes them a fantastic overall boot to wear for daily army work as well as for field training.

Comfortable & classic

Love the Garmont T8 bifidas. They are comfortable, breezy, and have great grip. They work well in office type situations, but where the big lugs really excel is rucking on uneven terrain. I have had several pairs of these and they hold up well, I am only buying a new pair to demote my current pair from “office only” to “field only,” they still are holding up really well.

The best combat boot out there

I love this boot, Its the only one I wear. I wear them daily for 8 hours a day and they are comfortable both for daily wear and for time in the field. I wore the first pair for 3 years and only replaced them after finally wearing out the rubber on the bottoms. The second pair I wore for 2 years and they are still in good shape, but have a hole in the side of the leather stitching by the pinky toe. I'm on my third pair now and have no regrets.

Use bífidas for 8 years while Active duty US. Army and now as LEO, I continue to use them. I order a pair every year. Best boots ever.

4th pair

I have been using these boots for about 5 years now. No issues with them. I have tucked all over the world with them and now I use them for taking nice hikes on the beach. I did change out a set of insoles to a more office setting because of a new position.

Super good for everything tough boots through field exercises to airborne jumps these boots will do it never have had a problem with them the durability on these boots are like none other im very excited to try the nfs boots these boots do seem to favor the heavier side of most boots probably due to the thick sole they have which keeps everything out of your feet breaking them can be a bit of a painful process but definitely 100% worth it

1 deployment plus 3 years running/flying

Coming from a oakley/rocky boot guy from my first 2 deployments I was hesitant to purchase these. I ended up doing so needing a firm rucking boot and oakelys dont perform too well on long field ops. Boots fit true to size, never had a break in problem, not too heavy. The water resistance is superb, they dry quick. I deployed to Afghanistan and they held up and I still wear them to this day as flight crew now. Going to purchase a 2nd pair through this app.

Buying another pair!

An Infantry Platoon Leader recommended these to me. I have used this boot for three years myself in my military training, and they are a great. They run true to my typical tennis shoe size. I even wear some cheap Fruit of the Loom socks and I have never had a blister with these boots. Through miles and miles of rucks, some hill sprints, and plenty of field time, they have been a very comfortable and reliable pair of boots. Highly recommend.

4 Years Running

I initially bought these boots for a field exercise in 2018 where I knew we would be rucking 3-6 miles per day over a month. Since then my first pair of T8s have been perfect. Definitely more comfortable and supportive then issued boots and more then my pair of Oakley boots.

Phenomenal combat boot

I have used this boot since 2016. New out of the box, I could take them on 4+ mile ruck marches and come out with no discomfort or blisters. I have worn these boots in environments ranging from desert to wet, hot to cold. The soles have also lasted up until 2022 when the tread had largely worn down; which some CB tread wears out within months. Highly recommend these to AD personnel.

Sweeeet Booooots

hands down the most comfortable boots for duty. Rigid for key support areas, and comfortable where you want it.

Bought these boots for a field exercise and was very impressed. They broke in over a short period of time. They were comfortable and dried quickly when wet. They were a little heavier than my second pair of boots I had brought with me but that extra weight I felt was necessary for the comfort factor. Overall, I will be buying another pair in the near future.

Best Boot I've owned

I've worn my Bifida's through numerous Army courses, field excercises and personal hikes. They are incredible comfortable and provide great support. I've tried numerous other boots from and I keep coming back to the Bifida!

Great boots

I work mainly on concrete being in the Navy and these stay comfortable all day long. They broke in really well the first day I wore them. I would suggest going up a half size if you like thicker socks as they can be snug. Looking forward to putting lots of miles on these.

T8 Bifida

I have used these boots for years! I used to wear Oakley and Nike but they would get destroyed in the field. My Garmonts last roughly 1.5 to 2 years of daily wear in the field and back at the garrison. 10/10 I would recommend for anyone!

A boot for every occasion

I wore these boots throughout the duration of training and airborne school and no matter the challenge they were able to meet it. I could run or ruck for miles with no problems. They’re a little heavy making running more difficult but the vibram outsole made them comfortable and absorbed the shock of each footfall during long movements. They are all around good boots for military or civilians no matter the task.

Comfort + Durability

I have worn serveral brands of combat / tactical boot over the years, but these by far are the best blend of comfort and durability. They break in easy right out of the box.

best military boot available

I was introduced to Garmont T8 Bifida in 2013 and have been wearing them ever since. They are my go to for all day comfort and durability and the only boot I wear in uniform. They have enough toe room for comfort on long rucks and the heel pocket never gives me blisters. I buy the T8 a half size larger than my sneakers.

Great boot

Bit of a rough break-in for me, but extremely comfortable boot. Outlasted all my friends' boots of other brands.

Boots are exactly as expected. They’re very tough/heavy so well-suited to hard, field use. I’ve also been rucking a lot with them and they’ve been fine. A little hard to break in since they’re so heavy, but that’s alright. Laces are great. Definitely recommend for Army use.

It took some time to break the shoes in- but I wore them for a 2 week FTX and they were great! It rained for one of the days, and the boots took about 5-7 hours to dry! Quicker than other boots I’ve had

Garmont Delivers

I had originally bought the T8 Gortex winter boots because one of my buddies recommended them to me when I joined the military. I unfortunately burned a hole in the last ones, however, aside from my mistake they were 3 years deep of usage with no signs of slowing down. I bought these boots to replace my other ones, and so far they are holding up exactly as I would expect, and they are super comfortable. I've walked long distances in the span of a few days and not once did my feet start to get sore. Highly recommend.

Awesome boots

Comfortable boots, used for rucking, running and everyday wear. Took a few days to break in the last pair across the top around the ankle. I left the lace out of the lock eyelid to keep them from digging in. Had a SGM recommend them to me said if you take care of your feet your feet will take care of you. These boots are a thousand times better than standard issued boots and the laces lay flat when stuffed into the top of the boot for a comfortable wear and professional appearance.

T8 Bifida 2nd pair

I have had these boots for three years. I ruck once a week for 5 to 10 miles and the boots have held up great. They only tore on the upper section due to being cut with a tent stake while setting up a shelter. My feet never hurt after a ruck or long hours in the field. My only complaint is the boots don't lock in my heel as tight as I would like. Each person's feet are different and this issue might not happen to you. I did order another pair of the T8 Bifida as well as one pair of the NFSs. I am looking forward to testing out the NFS and comparing them to the Bifida .

These boots are phenomenal. Good for rucking, combat focused PT, long garrison duty days, the field and commuting on a motorcycle.

Best field boot on the market.

I have had 2 sets of these boots and they have lasted me over 3 years per pair. The ankle support and traction on these boots have helped me conquer numerous terrain from Georgia, to the hills of Appalachia, to the tallest Mountain in Vermont. These boots hold together perfectly and can take a beating.

Best Boots for Rucking/Running in

Boots can withstand the weight of a heavy ruck and are very comfortable when broken in. I also run a lot in uniform so these are always my go to. These boots are also great for various terrains. Breaking in the boot takes a while before they get comfortable but they are definitely worth it. I'd also say they are true to size. This item is better for experts.

I bought these boots on the recommendation of someone within special operations as he said they were perfect for garrison, field, and airborne operations. They do not disappoint; comfortable, durable and lightweight, I haven't found a situation in which they did not live up to the reputation. Perfect for anyone.

As a former Drill Sergeant these boots were amazing. Through countless road marches, field exercises, and constantly on my feet these boots held up. Great boots will continue to buy.
