Great Bikepacking & Cyclocross pedals!

5 Expert Recommendation Content I have multiple sets of these pedals because they shed mud and dirt off your shoes every time you clip in, have 4 points of engagement so there’s never a missed clip in, they don’t need to be greased, they come in Great colors to match your bike, and they have a nice sized platform (so if you need to ride without you Cycling shoes you can). I highly recommend these pedals for Bikepacking, Cyclocross training & racing, MTB riding, and Gravel racing! I’ve been out Bikepacking for 10 months and have nothing but great things to say about these pedals!!!

Expert Recommendation Content The pedals are great for XC mountain biking because they are lightweight and shed mud easily. However, the extra candy surface can kind of mess with the clip in since it's essentially a shroud around the eggbeater. If the eggbeater is in the right position, essentially a 90 degree angle, then your cleat will clip in without any issues. However, if it is out of position, you need to roll it so that your cleat will catch and you can lock in. It's not a big deal, but if you aren't paying attention and try to reclip on a downhill section, you may be in for a surprise when your foot shoots off the pedal. One thing to note about Crank Brothers pedals - sometimes they do NOT make an audible sound when you clip in. Just make sure you push down hard to ensure a solid clip in.

Great mountain bike pedal! This is the one you’ve been looking for!

I have been using egg-beaters for years on both my CX and MT bikes - racing and training. I finally tried these candies hoping they would give me more landscape for my mid-foot than my egg eaters. WOW is all I can say from the first ride! This is exactly what I was looking for in a pedal. There is great power transfer, a solid foot feel on the pedal and it was easy to no-look the entry which I worried about only have two sides to click into. I have since purchased a second pair for my CX bike for training. I will still race super muddy races with egg beaters for the mud clearing but these will be my go-to for Mt biking and CX training. Great product!

Second set of clipless

I’ve got two sets of these and I really enjoy them. They’re well-built, durable, and come with everything you need to keep enjoying them for a long time. I feel most comfortable being clipped in, even on my snow bike, but I like the small platform on these for when I’m approaching a feature I’m not comfortable being clipped in on; I can unlip and use the platform like a normal pedal. I do that less frequently these days now that my muscle memory knows how to unclip in a hurry. The platform is also great for clipping in quickly; it makes it so your foot doesn’t go slinging off the front while you’re trying to find it like an eggbeater could.

Great CX pedal

I have been racing CX and Mtb XC for 20 years. I have always used Spd and hated whenever there was mud or snow because of how bad the pedals pack up. I was in a race last week vying for 3rd place and was neck and neck with the competition until the run up. I bet him up the hill but could not lock in no matter how much i tried clearing them. I couldn't keep my feet on the pedals to produce good power on the final sprint. I bought these pedals and raced an equally muddy course last week and was so happy at how well they worked. I will be switching over my snow bike pedals shortly

Fantastic Pedals

I love how easy these pedals are to clip in and out of, plus the added float provides a bit more comfort too, without giving up any of the energy transfer. Great pedal for XC mountain biking and can take a beating. I bought these as I was just getting into mountain biking and have beaten them up on numerous rocks and they've held up great. As a beginning it was nice being able to reverse the cleat and be able to unclip very easily and then as I became more comfortable in them, switch them around for a more firm hold (what an awesome design). Would highly recommend these to any rider.

Great XC/Trail Pedals

I've been riding these pedals for ~2 years now. I prefer the Crank Bros. mechanism to that of the SPD's. I find it much easier to clip in/out of these pedals while having few experiences of unplanned releases. The generous amount of float helped me resolve an issue I was having with knee pain. I have slammed these pedals in to several rocks and they have been holding up very well. Only recently have I felt some play in the pedals, but you know what, Crank Bros. actually offers a rebuild kit. This is one of the few companies that actually want you to continue to use their product. Serviceability is a high priority for me on wear items such as pedals. Top marks on these bad larrys.

The Only Pedal You. need!!

I use Candy pedal on EVERY bike, road, MTB, Gravel, fixie and e-bike. A single pedal system lets me use any shoe on any bike. As a former road/crit/cross/MTB racer I find Candy to be a great pedal for all disciplines. Consistency is what you need to get to as a racer and Cranks Candy is the best. Why they do not promote cross discipline is beyond me.

Easiest pedals to get in that I've used

After three years on a pair of already beat-up hand-me-down Time pedals (which I loved) on my mountain bike I wasn't sure how I'd like these, but why not try something new? Let me tell you... these turned out to be the easiest "clipless" pedals to get in and out of. Makes getting clipped in on steep uphill and downhill sections a breeze. I will almost certainly get a second pair when I get my new gravel bike and just run one type of pedal.

I love these pedals easy to clip in and out of, I like that there is a larger platform over the Eggbeater but still sheds mud really well. I use The Candy on my cyclocross and gravel bikes but they could be used for cross country MTB as well. I also use the Mallet DH on my trail bike. Whatever you are riding, Crank Brothers can set you up.

So I went from using the Mallet DH pedals to these Candy 7s and there is 1 huge difference I didn’t anticipate.. they are much smaller and have virtually no platform when you’re not clipped in. If you want a minimal platform with a bit more than regular egg beaters, then these work great. If you want a flat pedal to get a foot on quickly if you’re battling in some loose dirt, go with the Mallets.

Favorite xc/ trail pedal!

I used to ride with Eggbeaters, then went for Mallets for a while, and now I'm completely happy with the Candy pedals. I didn't need all of the stability of the mallets, but I did want something with a little more platform than the eggbeaters. Currently, my enduro bike has some awesome orange Crankbrothers Stamp7 flat pedals. And now, my xc/ trail bike has Candy pedals, which I love

My Go To Pedal

I have been using the candy's since they came out and they are the best clip in pedal on the market. I mistakenly went to Shimano during the pandemic when Crank Bros was out of stock and that was a mistake. The ease of use and just clip it and forget it. It lets me release when needed and the refresh kit keeps these going for years. I don't know about the plastic risers, didn't try to figure that out, but just works with my shoes.

Lightweight, smooth as butter, and beautiful.

Though this is intended for mtb I use it on my road bike for commuting since mountain biking shoes allow me to walk around a bit once I get to my destination. Works great! I’ve had egg beaters before but these give just enough platform space to ride without cleats if you really need and also to make clip-ins faster after stopping.

I love how easy it is to clip in and the mud shedding ability of the pedals. They're also light. My only qualm is with roll stability. I feel like getting the proper shoe/pedal interface is tricky and my foot can rock side to side a little more than I'd like. Not a huge issue, but I haven't seen this with pedals from other brands. I liked the first set I got enough to buy another set.

Have been a shimano spd guy for forty years until purchasing these Candy 7s. Great weight distribution across the platform, click in/out is intuitive. Have the standard release 6deg float cleat attached to some pearl izumi Mtb shoe and couldn’t be happier. Hotspots not as bad as former shimano setup. Pedal is engineered with precision and well built.

First time Crankbrothers

Only used these a few times. Upgraded my shoes and pedals for the first time ever. Really enjoying these a lot. Still getting use to them, but liking them a lot. I wanted a tighter pedal or feel as I am not really that confident and want to get out quick. Thinking about changing out the cleat, but so simple of everything. Any questions about this or pretty much any product can be answered on YouTube videos. Very impressed.

Very good pedal. I rate Crank Brothers #1 for mud/snow clearance. Not as durable as SPD in my experience since I have broken the spring on them twice. Still, I will be converting from SPD to eggbeaters for muddy cyclocross races due problems I've had with clearing mud and ice with SPDs.

Consistent quality product

This is my third pair of the Candy series pedals, they’re practically bomb-proof! I mainly ride cross-country but am uncomfortable not being clipped in, so they’ve been through enduro races and lift-served downhill days and never let me down. Highly recommend.

Perfect size

Enduro mountain bike, Intermediate level rider. Great pedal for clipless riders that want a minimal platform. Just enough size to be able to get the pedal every time from stalled starts or tricky sections when you've unclipped. These are not coming off my enduro.

Bullet proof pedals

Expert Recommendation Content This is my 3rd set of pedals (candy 2 and large stamp). I have about 1500 miles on these and 1000 on the candy 2. Easy in and out and provides just enough platform.

Great pedal for CX or XC MTB (even road...)

CB candy pedals are a great package. Great engagement, mud shedding, and easy service. The Candy 7 model is super light, and the integrated traction pads make adjusting the interface with your shoe a cinch.

Love the amount of free play

There is so much free play left and right that you don't feel locked in, especially helpful if you have bad knees that don't like the mechanics of pedaling round and round.

The Best

Fat Bike, XC, cyclocross. These pedals do it all. They are relatively light and plenty tough. The ability to rebuild them means they will last for years.
