Best flat pedals on the market

Expert Recommendation Content After trying a lot and different flat pedals I’m happy to say my search is over. Since finding these I have converted all my flat pedal bikes to large Stamps. My local trails are very rocky and covered in roots, with these pedals I no longer worry about keeping my feet on the pedals and my focus stays on the trail ahead.

High end pedal and you get what you pay for.

Expert Recommendation Content This pedal is great. It has a thin concave design that puts your foot as close as possible to the spindle and giving you more grip and control. The grip and control allows you to put more power down throughout your stroke and control the bike better in the air. These pedals have been great for my hardtail. I don’t worry about my feet bouncing off he pedals. These pedals are fairly light in comparison to other pedals this size but to be honest, even if they weren’t, I’m not willing to trade grip and control for a little bit of weight.

Just what I was looking for...

These were my first high end flat pedals and they did NOT disappoint. They provide great grip, plenty of surface area, and all around do exactly what I asked of them. It's nice when something just IS what it is supposed to be and DOES what it is designed for without any fuss. You do have to be mindful of them, so you don't clang your shins, but that's universal I believe for the genre of flat pedals overall. I do recommend these and I would buy them again.

Giant platform, solid grip beautiful color

Expert Recommendation Content I'm using these on a DJ bike after going through two sets of other pedals, both from bent spindles. So far these are holding up to all the abuse i'm putting them through and seem to be a super solid pedal. Great platform, i was in between the recommended sizes and went with the large for a bigger platform and found it quite helpful while learning tricks that require taking feet off the pedals. overall, very impressed. they do eventually tear your shoes up a bit, but totally worth it for the grip. I now ride these for DH and Enduro as well. Super solid for everything. They can take a beating as well.

Good Size, Great Contact and Grip

My shoe size is 10 and I was debating between the Small and Large. When the size large first arrived it seemed really big, especially in comparison to my other pedals (This is the first Large Crankbrothers pedal I own). However, after installing them on my bike, I'm glad I got a large. The surface area allows me to dial in my foot placement based on the type of pedaling I'm doing, and for climbing vs descending. The large contact patch and grippy pegs really allow you to apply an even pedal stroke, making for more efficient and effective power transfer. The pedals come with different sized pegs for customization. The pedals are so good at maintaining contact, I found my foot stuck to them when first getting used to them. Even though they're large, they're pretty thin. And as long as you're strategic with your strokes and foot placement, there's really no risk of pedal strikes. I've gone through some chunky rock gardens and have yet to strike these pedals.

I love Crankbros products!

I have bought bars, pedals, tools, pumps, and clothes from Crankbros. Top of the line everything. These were my first non-clipless pedals in a while and they are awesome. I actually had ExpertVoice contact me because the Danny Macaskill Edition was back ordered so I got another color, but still Stamp 7.

GRIP!!

I purchased the Large size to get more grip on longer enduro downhills. I wouldn't necessarily recommend these for freeriding however and would opt for the smaller size. the larger pedal face makes it nice for finding pedals, however it also makes it easier to clip them in the air and rotate them vertical. The smalls would be great for that. If you don't freeride or like lifting your feet of the pedals in air, these are the claws you will want! Replaceable and adjustable pins let you set wether you prefer a concave or convex surface shape and will keep you there. Easily serviced thanks to a plate with two screws to re grease and clean. After many rides they still ride smooth and clean. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Sticky platform, solid and smooth operation

Pedals working great on everything from smooth flow single track to choppy, root-laden single track, to wet conditions on the reclaimed mine trails at Cuyuna.

Favorite pedals!

Expert Recommendation Content I only use flat pedals and these have been my favorite by far. I have a shoe size 13 so that’s why I chose to go with the large size. On previous pedals, I have had problems with my foot occasionally slipping off. With these, I have rarely had that problem. I have definitely dinged these on a few rocks and they are holding up great! I have used these a few seasons and I am very impressed. Crankbrothers makes some quality products and these are no different!!

Best pedals ever

Expert Recommendation Content These pedals stick like glue to your mtb-specific shoes. The bearings are smooth, there’s a port near the outer bearing to allow for regreasing without disassembling the pedal, and there’s a built-in bottle opener. Not to mention the sweet purple anodized finish that stands up to quite a few rock strikes. I also love that you can replace the bearings, bushings, seals, and traction pins for about $30, and they come with an excellent 5-year warranty. Found them on sale for $109. What more can you ask for?!

Go large

Expert Recommendation Content Though not much larger than the standard stamps, I wanted to check them out and I’m certainly glad I did. My feet have more contact with my shoes and, if you’re familiar with swimming and working on your “pull” in your stroke, you’ll get that same feeling (on bike) as if you were using the hand paddles; that firm resistance and power with each pedal stroke. Excellent with my Five tens too!

Awesome pedal and does it’s job well.

Expert Recommendation Content I don’t dislike anything about this pedal, everything is great! I recently did my first enduro race at Mt Shasta, CA. I weigh 268lbs and am 6’4”. I hit a few rocks with the pedals and something slightly got bent internally. That’s why I say 9, and I fully understand that my size puts a lot of strain on my components. Luckily you can buy a refresh kit for this pedal, awesome! I will definitely buy these again and am super stoked to be riding them.

First flat pedal, and I love it

Expert Recommendation Content I previously rode the mallet dh pedal and swore by clipless Enduro riding. My friends convinced me to switch to flats and I absolutely love how easy this pedal made the transition for me. I paired it with the 5.10 FreeRide pro shoes and they stick together like glue through the swampy loam in the Pacific Northwest

From Commuting to DH & kid Hauling!

I usually ride clips but got these for Technical MTB/DH rides that I didn't want to be clipped in as well as for my Surley Karate Monkey which is what I use to tow my kid in the burly, Use my Kids Ride Shotgun seat w the 3yr old or hit the bike park. Great for wise feet these pedals have a nice platform and really stick to my shoes like Glue! I love these Pedals and use them all the time, occasionally switching them over to my Mtn Bike for tech DH rides!!

Feel the grip

I've ridden several versions of the Stamp and each is better than the last and all are still good spinning smooth. The build quality and durability are outstanding and I don't worry about abusing them. Rock scrapes to the pins can make them difficult to remove but not impossible. Pliers and the right attitude go a long way. New pins and send it. I also ride Mallets and the Stamp with a good shoe gives you enough grip to pull and confidence when things get nuts.

Great pedal!

After a couple of months of riding in the PNW these pedals have held up well. I’ve had the occasional pedal strike and only have scratches to show for it. Not even a single bent pin. These came with two extra sets of pins, long and short, which is really nice and I missed it if it was mentioned in the description. After a lot of wet rides I’ve got just a touch of play in the body, it’s not noticeable while riding but it’s not as tight as it was when they were fresh.

smooth as butter

I upgraded from the large stamp 2 and I love the large platform that these had. I felt more secure on the my pedal and landing drops and hitting jumps with move confidence knowing that large pedal was there. Crankbrothers always makes a great pedal in my opinion. the quality of the bearings is really good and the purple color really pops with my bike. Keep cranking the Crankbrothers. Amazing grip!

These are the kind of pedals that you stick to, no matter how bad your foot placement, but that’ll also take a chunk out of your shin if it gets really bad. Got these after a set of Point One Platforms, I was impressed by the Point One’s and didn’t know if these would live up but I’m totally sold

Fantastic Pedal with Tenacious Grip

The size large pedals work well for size 13 MTB shoes and definitely wont let your foot slip when on you're standing or sitting. Their excellent grip is also a bit of a flaw at times because it can be difficult to make small adjustments without completely taking your foot off the pedal. Perhaps this will change as the pins wear down with use. I had a smaller set of VP pedals that allowed me to very easily adjust my foot but my feet slipped off the pedals at inopportune times too.

Why ride clipless when you can ride flats?

I've been riding eggbeaters for over a decade now and picked up a pair of candy 3's thinking it would be the next best thing. Turns out they gave me instant knee pain. Got a pair of stamp 7's and have been riding them with some approach shoes and I don't notice any power difference but I do notice a lot more comfort and confidence on technical sections. No regrets.

Feet stick without needing clipless

Just the pedal I was looking for. Still wanted to have the ability to easily take my foot off when riding but wanted the security of not slipping and this pedal perfectly achieves that. It gives me a wide platform to push on and even a 90 degree pull when pedaling which helps save my legs on the uphill. Sturdy and relatively light weight pedal.

These pedals are super grippy. I felt more glued down than when riding clipless pedals, which took getting used too. This is good and bad. Once planted your feet stay put but if you need to adjust your foot position it can be challenging once you are already rolling on a trail. I will be lowering the pins to try and help that and maybe save my shins when I am walking with the bike.

The traction and feel with this pedal is excellent. If you have a size 10 or larger, the large gives a huge platform to stand on. When paired with a mtb specific shoe, you're locked in. Only minor issue is with the large pedal, it has a higher potential to strike when riding technical or benched trails but hasn't been a problem.

Love ‘em!

Fantastic. Though large is LARGE. Like real big. But wow, shoes stick like glue! These are my first platforms. I’m never going back to clipless. Wow so awesome. And the pain of the accidental “platform to the calf” is a great motivator! I really like these, though I would recommend going with the regular over large (size 10.5 shoes for me, if that helps).

Best Flat pedals for MTB

I have these pedals on all three of my mountain bikes. The grip is amazing and the platform is is stable and comfortable. Trying to use any other pedals just feel wrong. Only downside is it can be troublesome to replace pins once they are damaged or worn.

Does the job perfectly

This pedals are the best of its type. They feel really stable and I love the low profile that allows for better clearance. The concave center provide extra stability and the adjustable screws dig right into the sole of my shoe allowing great traction when pedaling. Very high quality.

Great balance

The Stamp 7 checks a lot of boxes for a flat pedal. Very good grip overall while not so sticky to make repositioning your feet difficult. Also a good low profile and well shaped design that avoids catching on rocks and roots as much as some squarer pedal profiles. And pretty light.
