Upgraded from Doubleshot 2 -->1 ?!

I had the Doubleshot 2s the last few years and needed a new set of pedals for another bike and figured I'd give the Doubleshot 1's a try. The ds1s are a little lighter, less expensive and seem to perform the same as the ds2s. They surprisingly look and feel nice...the pics make them look plastic-y but they are solid and look really good for what that is worth. I use these for mostly road riding and light off road and both perform great. Not sure if the ds2s provide an offroad performance benefit but for me both seem good bets. Oh, the ds1s come with the easy release cleat as opposed the standard release.

Best of THREE worlds!!!

Expert Recommendation Content Easy to install, super easy to use. Love that I can clip in for my daily commute and still have sure footing with my nikes or even Reef flip flops when I’m camping or playing with my kids. The only think I would do differently is put 2 sets of shims in with the cleats. It sucks to get everything ready just to find out you need another shim and have to find a store that carries them or wait for another online order. Update: Still awesome pedals. Easier to clip in and out after a month or so. But here’s the THIRD world... BEER!!! These things make and awesome bottle opener!

High quality pedal, versatile solution for the right bike

Generally I wouldn't recommend a flip -flop pedal; if you want to ride clipless, ride clipless; if you want to ride flats, get a nice spiky pair. The Doubleshot 1, however, I run on my double duty commuter/bar bike. I kit up and clip in for my 45 minute commute, and these offer the performance I'm used to from my Crankbrothers Candy 3's. When it comes time to head to the bar clad in jeans & Vans, these bad boys eliminate the need to a.) go through the hassle of switching pedals , or b.) be forced to ride less safely and comfortably with flat shoes on clipless-specific pedals. If this is your situation, I recommend giving these a (double?) shot!

I bought these as my first attempt at clipless pedals. These are a good option for people that want the option to ride without clipping in or if you want to be able to jump on the bike without having your specific shoes. I would definitely recommend these for someone getting started with clipless or those that want the option of riding with regular shoes.

Perfect Commuter Pedal

With this pedal I am able to make quick trips in regular shoes and long touring trips with my cleated shoes. Compared to other Crank Brothers pedals, the clip mechanism takes some getting used to but they are built to last and work well! I would buy them again for sure. Great for the person interested in a “clipless” setup who wants to have another option with the flip of a pedal.

An option for those tricky moments

A great idea for those wanting more out of a pedal than clipless OR flats. It does take a while to break the release tension in. I had a couple of moments of wanting to dismount and not having the pedal release in time for this to happen. The only down side would be that the studs on the flats side are not that grippy even with 5ten shoes.

Great multiple purpose pedal

These are a great multi-purpose pedal. There is only one road bike in my stable so it is nice to have a product that functions well on flats or clipped in. So far the pedals have shown nothing beyond the standard wear and tear you would typically expect based on 1,000 miles of usage.

Nice to have a platform

The pedal is solid. Can only clip in from one side. When wet foot tends to slip from the platform side. I used the candy for a decade and although i wondered if there’d be a big difference there really isn’t. Like them so much purchased another pair for another bike.

Great for dual purpose bikes

I have a short, 15-minute commute on my road bike and these are great for allowing me to commute while wearing regular shoes but still clip on for "real" riding. The quality is bomber and there are replacement parts for most of the pedal so if you're looking at these, go for it.

The Double shot is great! Been on the trail several times with these pedals and they work awesome! The platforms are especially helpful when you are just riding around without bike shoes on.

Great for a long ride or just a commute to work.

Well worth the money and they're at a decent price range compared to others. I like being able to use them with my clip ins and then any shoes while I'm riding it around town.

I use them everyday to bike to work and they become amazing after about a 10 day break in period. The blue color doesn’t fade and looks epic.
