Great Pad….

This is my 3rd Klymit pad. I bought the insulated static V Luxe because my 2 regulars ones rock and I wanted something with more room. I’ve used these up to around 12,000 ft in all seasons in Colorado. In Winter I’ve used it in sub- zero temps and didn’t feel any cold spots. The only downside for me is the valve is a weakness. I’ve had my other pads for several years and have had to send them back for warranty due to the valve leaking. Just sent one back this week-11/21. Which leads to my next thing. They’ve always honored their warranty. If the valve wasn’t an issue I would have given a 10 & a 5! The material can be slippery with the nylon of a sleeping bag, so I’ve taken shoe goo and put drops of it along the top of the pad so I don’t slip off. Great pads at a reasonable price. I have a very expensive brand that I no longer use because the valve style makes it hard to inflate, especially compared to Klymit’s. Makes a huge difference after skiing or snowshoeing for miles up to altitude!

Great comfort and warmth

Expert Recommendation Content I was able to use this pad during 80+ degree weather first. The pad was comfortable and did not make my hot night any worse. I later went on a 9 day backpack hunt using g this pad 7 nights. I liked how easy it was to inflate and deflate. The bag it comes with helped it stay rolled up and easy to find in a big hunting pack. I later used pad in Wyoming in November backpack hunting and it was the major improvemnt I needed for my sleep system! It's durable as can be, even while sitting on the pad on rocky terrain.

Covers a lot of ground

I purchased a sleeping pad for backpacking, and because of its reported R-value. This inflatable pad is very comfortable, and takes up very little space inside of my backpack. However, once unfolded in inflated, it takes up quite a bit of room in the tent, so, if you are camping solo, you'll have a nice area for yourself. If you are camping with another person in the same tent, space might be an issue, depending on the size of your tent. I will most likely use this one combined with a secondary pad for winter backpacking during ski trips. It would be an added bonus is this sleeping pad came with some sort of sack to inflate it, rather than using your own breath.I've yet to really give the R-value a test with winter camping; however, with summer backpacking it worked perfectly.

I used this pad for a few weeks in -30F weather. It was very comfortable and is longer than other sleeping pads I have used in the past. I’m 6’2 and didn’t have any part of my body hanging off. The reason I give it 3 stars is because in order for this pad to really give the warmth that it claims (there is no way it has an r-value above 4) it needs to be paired with another pad. Prior to my trip I tested the Static V by itself and was shivering all night while located inside a tent in 25F weather. Using the same sleep system with a term-a-rest pad under the Static V, I had no issues in -30F. This product would be perfect for someone who is looking for a large, comfortable sleeping pad for warmer months however I can not recommend this product to people who are purchasing for its r value and are planning to use it in extreme cold.

Great addition

This works great with my Big Agnus 3-n-1 sleeping bag and my Canvas Cutter bedroll system. Spent some cold nights below zero degrees F. and didn't get cold. The insulation is worth the extra weight especially for winter camping. Rolls up easily and fits snug in the pack sack. I recommend practicing inflating and deflating and packing it back into the bag before heading out backpacking or camping. It's a little more challenging in negative degree weather with gloves and the extra practice in the living room was worth it.

You’ll bake your backside

Okay maybe not, but you wont be losing any heat through the ground. The mattress is wide enough that you wont slip off, long enough to not have your feet or pillow fall off the edges. Dont over inflate it, you’ll feel every air tubes, fill her up and back it off a lil’bit. Don’t be in too much of a rush to deflate and roll it back, i find that rollling it twice makes it easier to fit back into its pouch. It’ll still fit in a rucksack if it isn’t rolled to factory spec. I still use folding foam mattress underneath to avoid punctures from rocks and roots.

Very Capable Pad

I used this pad for 2 weeks straight on a backpacking trip on New Mexico. It is on the heavy side for ultralighters, but I found the comfort to be worth the extra carry. It inflated fairly easily (I used a Klymit Rapid Air 18 Liter). It took about 4-5 rolls to get full inflation. Stayed fully inflated all night. Very quiet when moving around. Very warm and comfortable. It is great for those 6’ or taller. It did stain on areas where skin made contact with the pad. Also, it takes some experience and patience to deflate fully and roll. Overall, it is a great pad for those looking for some extra R-value and comfort who like a larger pad and are willing to carry a few extra ounces.

Great Insulated Pad

These V Luxe Pads are great. The extra thickness over the regular pads is a game changer. I have a few regular klymit pads and they are ok, but the comfort of these pads is way beyond what the regular ones offer. The uninsulated version of this pad weighs the same as my extra long klymit lightweight pad, but way more comfort. I have used the insulated with just winter car camping inserted into my big Agnes 0 deg bag. It works great kept me warm in below freezing temps in the car since my BA bag has no insulation on the bottom. Very comfortable, the extra thickness is very noticeable. What I do love about the Klymit pads is the ease to blow up. By mouth it's way better than any other pad I've tried. I have a big Agnes pad that I practically pass out trying to blow up and takes forever. The Klymit pad is blown up in less than a minute. Highly recommend.

Great mattress. Big.

Overall I am happy, it is large and in charge but it is comfortable. Side sleepers may not enjoy it as much. Took me a few nights to get a rhythm in rolling it up. Not a fan of the feeling against me so I switched back to bag from quilt, good to go. Haven't used in cold yet. I was also curious about its strength because it did not feel as tough as I had hoped. Though granted I have put quite a few nights on it on mixed terrain (tarp, forest, rock) and it's still good. It's heavier than alternatives but I willingly carry the extra weight.

Klymit Insulated Static V Deluxe

Sleeing Pad was easy to blow up and packs up nice and compact. Quality is superb maid with heavy duty material. Craftsperson ship is clean all seems and overall construction very sound. I has held air so far for several camping trips. I especially appreciate the size I am 6' 2" and it fits me well. The pad fits my sleeping system well and I found it to be very confrontable and warm. Because of its size and the thickness of the material it is heavier than most. If you are doing an ultra light pack into the back country there are lighter options. On the other hand if a good night sleep is important to you a little more weight might be worth it to you. I have bought several Klymit sleeping pads and this one would be my top pick for Construction, Warmth, Comfort, Compact, and Price.

Pad Kra PAO!

Great pad! Slept well in 40 degree weather using it in a hammock and in a tent. Pros - its got great loft, I am 6'2 200 and sleeping on my side my shoulders and hips didn't touch the ground and weren't sore waking up. -Its the perfect size for me, the extra few inches in height and width are amazing -stuff sack fits it great and its not a war to get it packed in Cons -inflates in 15-20 breathes which feels like a lot, but then its totally worth it once you're sitting on it. -it says its a 6.6 R value, but I have slept warmer on a different brand with an R value of 4. I don't think that their R values are based on the standarized sysem that came out this year, its defintely warm enough to be a 3 season pad but I wouldn't take it for a winter campout. -folding it up is a little odd to figure out its not really intuitive, but they have a video on it which is great!

The Luxury I've needed!

Despite freezing my butt off with abnormal nighttime lows in the upper 30's/low 40's and not having a proper quilt/bag with me for those temps, I can proudly say that one thing that was NOT cold was whatever was touching my Static Luxe SL sleeping pad! Some of my friends made fun of me for carrying such a large pad while bike packing but over morning coffee they were thinking of upgrading to a higher r-value as well! Aside from its warmth I also love the v-chambers. It actually provides a space for my heels to perfectly rest into. It takes me 15 breaths to fill it to the level I like. I never feel the ground whether laying on my back or side. I've never managed to roll off and love the extra width at the top. If I could make one change to it, it would be to offer it in a shorter version. I'm only 5'3" and when bike packing with a small framed bike you really need all the space you can get!

Serious comfort and convenience

I’ve been using klymit’s products for the last 7 years and I’ve always appreciated the level of durability, space saving technology and overall craftsmanship of their products. One of my recon mats finally bit the dust and I opted to get a more comfortable option. This sleeping mat has truly impressed me on all fronts. Extremely comfortable in any austere environment and due to the material, I’ve been able to lay down on some unforgiving surfaces and still been able to rest. If your looking for a best overall mat for weight, size, comfort and ability to be used year round, this is definitely it.

Easy(ish) to inflate. I have used in sub freezing temps at elevation and found insulating effect works well versus non-insulated pads. A definite difference maker. It is not as thick as some pads out there, so side sleepers may have a little more of an issue, but it also packs down smaller than some of the other pads out there. Depending on your circumstances, a smaller pack can be a big difference maker. It’s thick enough for me to sleep comfortably on my side, but I am on the lighter side at about 150lbs.

Super upgrade!

We went canoe camping and really enjoyed our upgraded sleeping mats! They are so compact when stored and comfortable and warm when sleeping on. I managed to stay centred on my mat through the night with no effort. My partner had a little more difficulty, not sure why. Will figure out why on our next trip. Kept thinking that having two or three snaps to hold the two mats together would have been useful. Had toyed with buying the double mat but felt like we would be missing versatility with this choice.

Great Sleeping Pad in Any Climate

Expert Recommendation Content I've used this from Cold Sub-20 Nights, to Summers on the Lake & it definitely doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for a durable, quiet, well-cushioned pad at a Great price, then look no further. This pad has been my Go-to (even over my Big Agnes Q-loft), for MANY comfortable nights outdoors. Still no issues even after my kids have basically used is as a Trampoline on multiple occasions. Definitely worth every Penny!

Durable and comfortable

Has lasted me every night in the field this past winter with no visible wear. Super comfortable, and keeps you well insulated from the ground. Inflation and deflation is easy. The color isn't super ideal - it could easily get lost (and did one night) in many outdoor landscapes. I haven't needed the repair kit yet, but I think it could come with a more robust one. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a comfortable, colder weather sleeping pad.

Warm & quiet

I’ve used it on a few trips now camping down to 0c. It does pack down fairly small but with folding it in thirds instead of half’s to get it back in the bag makes it a bit of a slower pack up. Otherwise it’s been great! Good width, doesn’t make a sound when you’re on it, and I don’t notice the ground at all when on my side. The sizing is true so just follow the size guide when ordering. Looking forward to testing it winter camping!

Perfect for backpacking

Very quick to inflate and extremely comfortable. I'm 5'9, 175lbs and it fits me perfectly. Inflated easy with mini, battery powered pump. Deflation was a little frustrating (using a battery pump) because of the multiple chambers...way easier to "roll" the air out. Used two XL pads in a two-person tent...fit perfectly.

Best one I’ve tried yet

I have had a lot of pads that didn’t provide the comfort or ease of this one. I like that it keeps me toasty in my warm bag for winter car camping and hut trips. It also is SUPER quick and easy fill but the best is this nimbleness of the valves… you can adjust the air volume in small increments to make it just so (even when you’re on it!) checks all the boxes for me - didn’t know a sleeping pad could be so delightful comfy and easy.

Great pad, ensure a good seal.

I used this on a men's retreat out on some private land. No snow on the ground or anything, but still cold enough outside to make damp grass freeze. With the footprint of my tent and this thing between me and the ground, it felt like I was sleeping on an inflatable mattress. Other Klymit pads can't hold a candle to this thing. with a 20-degree bag and this, you could sleep mostly anywhere.

Comfortable Insulated Pad

Just got back from a week in Baxter State Park in Maine, including a few nights spend out at -10F. Pad insulated well and was minimally noisy, even at very cold temps. Not the lightest or smallest, but to be expected for the insulation it offered. Only concern is breathing in moist warm air to inflate at cold temps - causes frost to form inside. Hopefully not a long term issue. Recommended for cold nights out.

Best ground pad I'ver ever used!

In thirty years of backpacking I can say without question the Static V Luxe is the best grounded ever. I've been through several pads over the years and lately had began to feel the ground when sleeping on my side, not with the Static V. It has returned comfort to backpacking. Might be a bit heavy for many ultralight guys, but sleep is priceless in my opinion.

Great Quilt Companion!

Bought this as a companion to a Sierra Designs quilt for the R factor, size, and comfort. Has worked well, paired with a sleeping bag liner to cover the pad helps with skin feel and noise. Not the smallest packed down for backpacking, but with the size of the quilt packed down and comfort it is worth it.

The best Matt I’ve ever had

This inflates really easy and has a rubber stopper in the inflate valve with a dedicated deflate valve. 10-15 breaths and you’re good to go. This kept me well off the ground and warm. It was also incredibly comfortable. Deflate it just a slight bit to get the most cushion. I’m 6,2 and was happy with the length and width. It backs up very well also.
