Car Camping Comfort

Expert Recommendation Content I purchased my Double V a year ago for my wife and I to use in our tent. We ended up trying it out in the back of our Subaru Outback and not only did it fit perfectly, but we also both slept through the night more comfortably than with our typical air mattress that deflates within 2 hours. The air fill bag makes inflating this pad super convenient. I haven't had any air leakage issues through 3 days on a single inflation! I'm 6 foot and 200 pounds, this sleeping pad was perfect for my size and needs. Highly recommend for car campers with vehicles similar in size or larger than an Outback!

Double the fun!

I've had a single double V for many years. love it! It was a no brainer when I was shopping for a double what I was going to buy. No regrets! I like the ability to blow up the mattress with the stuff sack. The double purpose make me giddy 😁it takes a few more breaths and a few more sackfuls to fill it up than the instructions imply, but at least I'm not going to pass out when I'm done. I bought a giga pump and the rubber attachment works perfectly with this. The only issue I have is, it's really hard to get all the air out. I'll update this review if I find a trick for it. Still worth it.

First Klymit... STOKED!!

Expert Recommendation Content Took it out for a spin on a two-night, drive up camping trip with my partner. It may have been the best sleep I’ve had camping, no exaggeration. For backpacking I have a few high end ($120-150) range pads from competitors, and they are great. They’re lighter, faster to inflate (with breaths or pump bags), but just not as comfortable. A few weeks ago my partner went on a trip, for kicks I set this up in the living room for a night. I ended up sleeping on it for 5 nights! Cant speak for durability yet, and honestly the pump bag is so-so. But I do love that it’s both the pump bag and storage pouch, multi-use is a huge plus. Highly recommend for car/drive up camping! Maybe too big or heavy for weight conscious backpackers. But I do plan to try some single Klymit pads now!

Backcountry approved

Used this double sleeping pad for a 5 day/4 night trip on the Rockwall Trail in Kootenay for my partner and I. Packs down to about 50% bigger than a single Static V Lite Insulated (which I own as well), so you are saving space in comparison to 2 separate mats. Very comfortable for both of us to sleep on with no noticeable pressure points with lots of surface area that we barely touched during the night. (For reference, 2 people , 5'3/120lbs and 5'6 180lbs). Insulated well when temperatures were down close to freezing. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because when deflating and rolling the pad back for storage, it is quite difficult to get all of the remaining air out that is trapped in the folds of the mattress, resulting in you having to unroll and roll a few times to get the maximum air out to reduce is size. Not sure if having a "dump valve" in the middle and end of the mattress would help with removing the air trapped inside the mattress once you are at the end of rolling it. Just a thought, but we both really loved using this mattress!

Awesome for 2 but be sure you both like the same pressure

The mat is great for sleeping one or two and ends up making the overall sleep better. I actually really like the idea of having a double mat as a single person and having it cover the majority of the floor of a 2 person tent and then putting your gear in the vestibule. the downside is that, if you are sleeping with someone on the mat you will need to ensure that you are both on the same page about pressure. some people like a mat to be soft while others like it firmer and it might lead to one person getting a restless sleep. Overall, I would recommend but it would be nice if the mat was composed of two independent series of chambers so that each mat could be filled independently to suit that sleeper's needs.

Great for side sleepers

I have a very difficult time sleeping in tents. A poor night's sleep is really awful, especially when I'm camping in support of my mountain biking trips. As a side sleeper, I needed more suppourt than the lightweight pads I've used in the past. So far, I haven't had a bad night of sleep on this pad! It has lots of comfort for either myself or when I'm with my partner. You use the stuff sack to help accelerate the inflation process. It works but it does take more time than a slim pad -- there's a lot more air volume in this pad that you need to fill up. It takes me about 20 rounds of inflation. I'm happy to dedicate five minutes of my time to ensure a good night of sleep! Lastly, this is not what I would consider a lightweight or backpacking pad. It's perfect for car camping on BLM land or wherever you like to camp and explore.

Excellent for couples

My spouse and I have been using separate mats for years, but wanted to try a twin with a quilt for a more personal backcountry sleep, and something that felt more like home-normal. This mat weighs roughly the same (maybe slightly less) as carrying the two separate Static-V that we've been using for years. First run out was an unexptedly 10-below-celsius and 30cm snow overnight and we slept great despite this having a low R-rating. Sure it wasn't ideal, and we were layered up, but it stayed inflated and was very comfortable. Has been used on many trips since and always a great night's sleep. Ours may have developed a small leak through use which I'm hoping to track down and patch soon but that doesn't detract from how good it's been so far and would definitely buy again. We may go for something even more "luxurious" for car-camping but this has been doing great for that too so far.

Great comfort

This pad has been the most comfortable I have used out of many. It is a little large for high speed low drag backpacking, but I use it for offroad motorcycle adventure riding, so weight is not a big issue. I can say I have had the best sleep on this pad as I don't roll off in the night. Thick and plush easy to inflate and deflate. Word of caution: I thought I had a leak but it was only the deflate valve not seated all the way. If I was climbing Adams or Rainier I would still take this as the extra pound would be well worth it.

Good pad

Easy to fill using the accompanying stuff sack . Carried this on a canoe trip with 1-2 mile portages. (very portable and light, packed it long ways along the tent poles). We slept two people total of about 300 Lbs in varying conditions (hills, hard and soft surfaces, warm and cool nights). Although we have not used it in sub-40 F temps yet, it was very comfortable. Having both cervical and lumbar injuries a pad was critical, and this pad did great. Woke up feeling better then at home! again great pad, no complaints will use it again, and if you have other pads this is a good budget throw down, two person pad that will work well in most three season situations.

Used this pad backpacking and with the Klymit double sleeping bag, which hooks onto it. Lightweight, doesn't take up too much space. Though it seems like it'll take awhile to blow up manually, it does indeed blow up in less than 20 breaths (I think I did it in 16). Material seems thick enough on the outside to resist tears. In terms of comfort, it's better than foam for sure, and the ribbed design prevents you from sliding off in the middle of the night. In terms of space, definitely big enough for two. I took it out this weekend for my wife, me, and our two daughters (aged 9 months and 2 years)... it was a bit of a squeeze with all four of us but the space would have been ample for two 'regular' sized adults. Overall, definitely recommend! Suits my purposes very very well (my purposes being family backpacking on 1-3 night, 3-15 mile range trips)

Double V is a win for me

The pad overall is pretty darn comfortable. Took it on its first outing last weekend, and I was happy with the performance. Packed down relatively small (for being a double), and sleeps well after a long day of hiking. The only reasons that I gave it an 8/10 were that the storage/inflation bag seemed like it could have been made a little better. The overall quality is not bad, but the material is rather flimsy and makes for a long inflation process. Still much better than using the ol’ lungs though. The other reason is because of the difficulty getting the air completely out of the pad. The V-Chamber technology makes for a comfortable night’s sleep, but on the Double-V it also makes it a little bit more difficult to deflate. If you’re expecting a quick and easy inflation or a quick complete deflation, this isn’t the pad for you. It’s doable, just a little more difficult. That being said.... Overall, I’m happy I purchased this sleeping pad, and would definitely buy it again. The quality and comfort are top notch.

I picked up two of these on my wife's behest for car camping. More convenient than an inhome type air mattress, these things pack well enough I take them to my inlaws. Brother in-law has a double bed. a squeaking double bed. Can't fit my wife and I on it without misery - especially with a nursing baby. So i packed this and slept soundly on the floor. Is not hard to inflate once you get the hang of it. Easy to deflate. Two of these on car camp trips will give us cushion for two kids and parents.

We love this sleeping pad

Expert Recommendation Content We've had this pad for a bit over a year now. It's been out 6-7 times in some moderate conditions. More impressively, this has withstood our 1 year old pyredoodle puppy on all of these adventures. She jumps on it and has pulled it out of our tent without puncturing it once. It inflates easily with the bag or with a pretty low amount of manual inflation. Small enough to pack but comfortable enough to get some sleep. We love this sleeping pad

Perfect Pair for Cross Canyon 2

I use this pad when camping in my Cross Canyon 2. Comfortable, holds air well, and fits nicely within the footprint of the tent. It's a bit heavy, but being able to eliminate the gap between two pads is a huge plus. The pad isn't advertised as being lightweight, so I knew what I was buying. Great value, overall. The customer service offered by Klymit has been terrific, including their warranty department (for a pillow, not this pad).

Great summer option

Comfortable, packable sleeping pad! The stuff sack doubles as a pump which is a great design feature (though it does mean that the stuff sack is NOT water proof). The low r-value is kind of limiting if you use a quilt, though--I was pretty cold pairing this with a quilt on an early September canoe trip in northern Maine. If you primarily use a sleeping bag and you're looking for a comfy double pad that's not too bulky, this is a great choice!

A Married Must Have

My wife and I got this pad for a wedding gift and it is awesome! No more falling off your own pads during bed time "cuddles". It fills up the 6 ft bed of our Tacoma perfectly, or wall to wall coverage of a two person tent. Using the stuff sack as the inflation device you don't get light headed blowing it up, and it is at full size in minutes. If you are concerned about packablity, I think two solo pads roll up smaller, but it still is not too big.

Great for tall people

I wanted to use this with my Big Agnes King double sleeping bag. It's a standard sleeping bag length - mummy in a double bag. However, this sleeping pad is a little too wide and way too long. The width I can still make work. However, the length is too much for the stretch corners of the big agnes to reach. Solution - just get the top of my sleeping bag attached to the pad. The pad is quite and I sleep well on it - even with my toddler kicking me in our shared bag!

Packs small, comfortable nights rest!

I would give it a 10/10 if it weren't for the bag inflate system. I'm not a huge fan and it realistically takes about 12-16 bags to inflate it. However, if you are patient it's a great nights sleep! I pair this with my 2 inch foam mattress in the back of my truck and it's pretty deluxe. It packs super small into a little dry bag that would be great for river trips. This pretty much lives in my truck as it would probably be excessive on backpacking trips.

My boyfriend and I took this backpacking in the Tetons, car camping in Yellowstone, and used it as a mattress topper in a rented cabin. Worked great in all scenarios! It is a little tricky to get folded down into the stuff sack after use, and the pump bag feature is a little tedious with the low volume/bag of air, but worth it for the cushy nights sleep!

Great Camping Mat!

Purchased this product as a solution to "the gap" that forms when camping as a couple. The item arrived in a timely fashion and has thus far exceeded my expectations. It is comfortable, light weight and seems incredibly durable. The only downfall is that it is not insulated and can get quite cold when the temperatures drop in the fall. Definitely not recommended for winter camping. I would recommend!

2x the comfort

Exceptional addition to your car camping collection. Very light and compact and yet comfortable. Works great with double sleeping bag without resulting in the inevitable gap that develops between 2 single pads. Whether camping with your partner or just want a roomier sleeping space for yourself- this brings the comfort of a hotel room or bedroom to your tent.

Great RTT Pad

Used this Pad in a Thule RTT on a 6 day cross country road trip from Alabama to Washington. Camped every night from the humid south, the New Mexico desert in June and the PNW. The Pad greatly increased the quality of our sleep, the supplied Pad in the tent provides good insulation but lacks adequate support and comfort. It was easy to inflate with the supplied bag and an intex electric pump we had on had. Highly recommend.

Klymit double pad leaked

I really like having a double pad. It makes sleeping solo more comfortable as well as with my lady. We have used it a lot this past summer, but on our last trip it went flat in the middle of the night. I even tested it before the trip to make sure it wouldn't leak, but it did any ways. Any tips on how to stop the leak? I'm not sure where it's coming from. Love Klymit gear though, I have a bunch and recommend it to friends.

Great for Couples

Car camped with this in the back of my FJ Cruiser. I could do some adjustments by removing the rear seat bottoms and adding a platform, but the pad was comfortable and held air wonderfully for us with a minimal setup. Width was perfect, the length a little too long for the FJ, but that can be adjusted by my setup. Not bad to blow up by myself at 10,000ft/3000m. It was easier to use my lungs than the bag.

Easy and perfect for car camping

I took this mattress to Maui for some tent and car camping. Both were great. Its not a Foam pad but its also not a huge hassle to throw in the car or in a pack. I'm taking it out again this weekend for a dessert camping trip. My partner was skeptical when she first saw what I had brought with us on our 15 day camping trip, but I didnt hear any complaints after that. Just deep snoring.
