I read the directions the first time to be able to switch from the slick outer covering to the soft inner covering. There was a satisfying “thwumph” as the pillow core transferred sides. I was skeptical about the performance of this pillow but I was surprised at the support and comfort it provides. I don’t camp without it now. If you are looking for pack-ability and space-saving, this pillow is not it. Keep using your fleece jacket for a pillow. If you want a bit of luxury on your backpacking trip, bring this. If you are car camping, don’t leave home without it. Be aware, having this pillow may make it a little bit tougher to get out of your sleeping bag in the morning!

Klymit Drift Travel Pillow, Best camping pillow I have ever used.

I have used this pillow while sleeping on the LUX air pad and I wish I had been using it long ago. I will end up getting another one for camping as I am sleeping on it every night since purchasing it. It has replaced my standard size pillow. It cradles my neck and head for the perfect sleeping position every night. If it starts to get shapely in one sport I jut re-shake it into shape and walla its new again. Can's say enough good things about this pillow. I do love the engineering behind the unfolding, pretty cool.

Great Car Camping Pillow

This pillow was very comfortable to use in a recent camping trip to the Rocky Mountains. The dual side pillow case is really easy to switch and the soft side is MUCH more comfortable than i expected. I dare say this pillow is more comfortable than the ones i use in my real bed. The only downside is they don't pack down as small as i would like. This is a definite tradeoff of comfort of packability. The smallest size you can get is about half the entire size of the pillow. Aside from this, it's my new favorite pillow for Car Camping, Hammocking, lounging, etc.

Decent Camping Pillow

Fairly comfortable large camping pillow but definitely not something you’d want to try taking with you on a backpacking trip due to size & compressibility. Nor is this a pillow you’d want to use during warmer outings as the plush side is way too warm (imagine sleeping on flannel). I flipped the pillow inside-out to try to use the nylon side, but unfortunately awoke to the white glue strip design peeling from the nylon & sticking to my face. Let the kiddos try it a few nights & they loved it. Bottom line, this pillow works great if you’re going on a family camping trip during cooler months & you don’t want to ruin one of your inside pillows.

Comfy and surprisingly big

I lvoe this pillow. Doesn't pack super small but the result is a soft pillow with a good amount of loft. I am one that typically likes a thicker picllow and although this isn't terribly thick it is exactly what I need when I am out camping or an exercise. The cover is soft and comfortable and can always fold in half to prop your head up while looking at your phone lol

Great travel pillow

Great pillow for what I bought it for. It’s bulky, but I knew that from previous reviews. I bought it because I travel and some hotel pillows can be, well less than stellar. In some cases the actively try to kill you enveloping your head from both side as soon as you lie down. Ending up with some kicking and screaming until you can escape. This pillow does what I need, and offers enough support that I don’t wake up with a headache. The only reason it’s a 9 is just for sheer bulk.

Life changing

We just finished a 3-week camping road trip as a family. As we were car camping, this seemed to be a good option to try. Let me tell you (as someone who has spent almost 40 years using a stuff sack filled with clothes as a pillow) I have never slept better in a tent. This is an INCREDIBLE product. …it may not make it into my backpacking kit because of its bulk, but it will go with me everywhere else!

Best camp pillow!!!

I've used everything from rolled up clothes, or jacket (in my broke college student days) to a couple different brands of camp pillows. I thought my old Thermarest pillow was awesome back in the day, but it has NOTHING on this one. As someone with insomnia, I truly appreciate what sleep I can get. The combination of this camp pillow and the insulated Static V sleeping pad is amazing! Since I purchased these two items, I've gotten the best sleep while camping that I've ever had.

Best pillow for the money

I am a side sleeper so comfortably sleeping while camping is a struggle. I normally stack pillows up. I got this pillow in hopes I would be comfortable. The first sleep with it I slept great. The second time I took it out there was a total rain out. The waterproofing on this pillow is incredible. Once I got it inside my tent I was able to change which liner was showing in the pillowcase and sleep on a dry pillow. I highly recommend this pillow for anyone that is a side sleeper

Versatile for travel

If you’re a person. Who sleeps with more than one pillow, this one will meet you needs for travel. It straps down small if you put the effort in and expands back to a comfortable amount that you just don’t get from inflatable pillows. Strapping it to the outside of a pack for a carry on makes a difference for space and is way better than the inflight pillows. The soft pillow case cover is also a great for not having the swishy noise out for your ears.

Sleep like home!

It's a camping pillow, so how comfortable can it really be? This pillow is AMAZING! I would take the weight and bit of extra space it takes in my backpack every.single.time. I got the backpacking pillows for my kids and this one is so much more comfortable that I have been requested to get 2 more of these. The outer cover turns inside out to a soft jersey fabric that helps you sleep like a dream. Def two thumbs up for this pillow!!

Comfortable and Compact (Car Camping)

I love the dual layer aspect to this pillow - a shell that keeps it clean and dry when in transit or storage and a soft interior when you're ready to relax. It's a bit too bulky for backpacking but a great addition to my car camping gear. Mine arrived with a tear in the soft lining and after contacting Klymit, they sent me a new one and said I could even keep the ripped one! Good product, great customer service; definitely a brand I will continue to purchase from.

Great pillow

I’ve used this pillow for the past year as my main car camping pillow. It’s always been super comfortable when I sleep and I like how easy it is to change the pillow case material on it. I’ve camped in freezing temps and over 100 degree weather and it’s been good for both. It does get a little stiff in the colder weather but nothing too uncomfortable. Definitely worth getting one

You Won’t Be Disappointed

Purchase this to replace my inflatable hiking pillows. Perfect hybrid of support and comfort, with packability and durability. Only complaint is that the orange cover will gradually work itself out if you move a lot while you sleep, but not a huge deal. Get ya one (or two), you won’t regret it!

Comfy and Snuggly

These arrived just in time for a little road trip with my son. We used them at the cabins we stayed in, and are looking forward to using them for other things. Pros: smaller version of your home pillow and just as comfy, flip out cover soft/wipeable options. Areas for improvement: would be great if this was made to pack down smaller on its own. This wouldn’t be something you could take hiking, and it would be nice to have the option without having to get a compression sack for your pillow.

Great vehicle pillow

This pillow works great and give nice support with it's size. I sleep in a vehicle and this works well for that. I am not a big fan of the cinch strap as it goes in the middle of the pillow and does not compress it very well. Almost wish it had two for each side. It would be bulky in my opinion for backpacking, but the comfort level is very good, espcially being a bigger guy.

Klymit - large drift camping travel pillow

Very comfortable pillow - I am a side sleeper to start and roll onto my back when I fall asleep. I found this pillow provided the comfort and support I needed to get a good nights sleep. I was a little worried about size & weight but found it worth the sacrifice. The better rested you are the better your adventure!!

Great pillow! It's now my go-to camping and travel pillow! Only downside is the topographical map graphics. They come off when you wash the pillow. It doesn't affect the functionality at all, and honestly, could be done away with in my opinion. I will be purchasing a second one for my wife in the near future.

GREAT PACKABLE PILLOW

Certainly A great packable pillow- used it for a camping trip recently where it was used exclusively while hammock camping, between the Klymit Pillow and the Klymit Insulated V Sleeping pad it was a great experience in the South Carolina weather of march 2024! Looking forward to further testing its longevity throughtou the year!

Its a pillow. I thought it was inflatable - that's my fault, not Klymit's. Comfortable though.

This is...a pillow. It's fairly large, which is nice. I had thought it was inflatable, which was incorrect, and as such it does not pack as small as I would have preferred. If space is not an issue, this would be a great pillow for camping, but I feel like if I was camping in a circumstance where I might use it, I would be just as tempted to take a normal pillow (though this does pack smaller than a normal pillow...

Perfect

Super well designed, super practical. My wife and I love these pillows for car camping. Absolutely smart design and a very comfortable pillow in the end. Absolutely perfect. Much better than my old backpacking inflatable pillows albeit orders of magnitude larger to pack. This is a car camping item and as such it is excellent. Five stars to Kylmit. Love it. Great design

Clever and comfy

I have tried a bunch of different pillow from blow up to homemade. This one works awesome. For my neck and my sleeping positions, it is as good (or better) than the one I use at home. Probably too bulky for backpacking, but certainly good for motorcycle and car camping. I really like the idea of having a protective cover over it so that it doesn't get soiled with something and then you have to put your face in it for the rest of the trip.

Game Changer!

These pillows have made are tent life so mich better. Both kiddos (6 & 4) sleep through the night love the reversible pillow case system. Best upgrade to our setup this year.

Very comfortable!

This pillow was very comfortable! It doesn’t pack down super small but it’ll pack nicely. If you like sleeping with a cold pillow, you could sleep on the outer shell. Also, it’s not the lightest pillow to add to your gear but I think it’s worth the added weight.

GREAT pillow!

This has turned out to be my every day pillow at home. I've replaced the very innovative pillow case with a more 'normal' one to match my home bedding. My only complaint is the inability to wash it, hence the 4 stars.
