Alright product for the price.

I've used this pad for everything from simple overnight camping trips to Climbing Mt Rainier in winter conditions. I have the older version and I appreciate they've upgraded the valve so it is flush. I wouldn't peg this pad as durable but I haven't managed to pop it either. I'm happy with the weight and packed size. Only issue is that you can get cold spots if your hips press through. My friend has a Big Agnes pad that's is similar weight/volume/r-value but the cells are thicker and I believe this better prevents cold spots. Final verdict: I think this pad performs quite well given its weight to price to performance and I'll continue to use mine when appropriate.

This is a great sleep pad I brought one of there with me to Nepal and it worked grate some of the group had got a lesser quality pad and they had nothing but problums keeping air in it. But not me I inflated it once at our base camp and it was full all 15 days. I did add the quilted cover for a little extra warmth. Grate quality nice and comfortable. Light and easy to pack. I recommend it for when weight isn’t the ultimate issue but worth is. i.e. winter weekend hikes. Campgrounds, basecamps. Grate product.

Warm Lightweight Sleeping Pad

Wife and I used to share an air mattress when camping, until we found the original Static V and upgraded to these for added warmth. They're relatively lightweight (24oz) and portable, while still providing a comfortable night sleep and providing insulation from the ground (R value of 4.4). Our whole family has their own individual pad to make packing and sleeping simpler on family trips. I have also used it while backpacking Buffalo River Trail to stay warm when the temps dropped below freezing. Gave it a knock for width and wanting to slide around as I'm a side sleeper that can toss and turn a bit. Overall though I still recommend these to family and friends.

Solid Quality for a Decent Price

I picked this pad up as a cheaper alternative to use when backpacking and camping in TX. Basically everything down here wants rip or tear all of your gear, from cacti to sharp shale to cedar thorns. I figured at the price point, if this bag pops, so be it. After about 5 or 6 extended climbing, kayakpack, and backpacking trips, I have yet to have a single issue. Im a Back sleeper so the design of the pad works great to support me however I could see how a side sleeper may feel as if they are pushing through the pad. Another solid design element is the valve to inflate/deflate. It's pretty robust as well as flush to the pad so I haven't had any issues with slow leaks or sleeping bag snags on it. Overall for the price and quality, I would be hard pressed to go a different route.

What a difference!

I used to backpack with friends and sleep in my bag on the bare ground as a broke college student. I graduated to the roll-up foam pad, then eventually I thought I hit the jackpot with a self inflating pad. On a car camping trip to Glacier National Park last summer, with my old backpacking buddies, I forgot my self inflating pad. Truth be told, the car filed up quick and there wasn't any more room. As a result, I slept in my bag on the floor of my tent....I slept poorly, was cold, and woke up stiff. I purchased an insulated Static V after that, and all I can say is WOW!!! Extremely comfortably, only took 15 breaths to inflate, warm, and I can't believe goes small it is when deflated and rolled up! OUTSTANDING product!

The perfect starter

Ive had this sleeping pad for over just about 2 years. It is just barely big enough for me at 5'10 and if youre any bigger, I would recommend the luxe. I use it daily for sleeping on the floor and when camping. It gets an 8 and ideally 4.5 stars because of the inflation valve cap, not the inflate/deflate valve, is not capped, you will wake up cold and on the ground. However I think theyve updated this. No cold spots, quiet, comfortable and worth every gram of weight. Im definately coming back to their sleeping pads in the futer and recomend them to everyone.

Warm Comfy Pad but…

I have 3 of these pads. Got them for a good price many years ago. I’ve slept on mine in subzero temps in Colorado and never had a cold spot. Tough solid material. Unfortunately the material they make it out of is pretty slick with my sleeping pad so I’ve put strips & dots of shoo goo to prevent me from sliding off. I’m a wild sleeper and generally wind up half off my pad. Inflation is easy compared to my other pad that I paid close to $200 for. That’s awesome when you’ve been skinning up to 12k ft for several hours and you’re setting up camp. The only weakness I’ve found with these pads unfortunately is the valve. I’ve replaced 3 or 4 of them. First time one of the valves went I was thankfully on a summer backpacking trip; now I test the pad before I even pack it for a trip. Klymit stands by its warranty for sure as I’ve not had to pay for a single replacement. I still highly recommend the pad though. Wish they would fix the valve issue. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this.

Great cold weather pad

I recently purchased this pad because a Therm-a-rest pad just wasn't cutting it in cold weather. I've now slept five nights on this pad in temps from 25F to 40F and it's worked great. It keeps me well insulated, is thick enough that I can sleep on my side, is wide enough that I don't roll off the pad and long enough that I have plenty of head and foot room for my 5' 8" frame. I originally thought it had a leak until I realized that I had to blow it up early, let it acclimate to the cold and then add a few breaths to make sure it stays firm all night.

Great pad!

I picked this up at Big 5, same price as here. This thing works great for me. I'm a bigger, heavier guy, and it's thick enough to where I don't sink when I'm laying down. I slept on this using my old military issue sleeping bag, just the intermediate black liner and the BDU Goretex bivy, inside a tent. Temperatures got down around 20 degrees F and there was no problems being cold from beneath. In the morning, I deflated the pad while sitting on it, and went from warm immediately to freezing when I contacted the ground. This definitely works to keep the cold away. This pad takes about 30 breaths to inflate. Its not easy, but it's not bad. When things were cold, I did roll off and reinflate it, to be sure I wasn't touching the ground when it was cold. Apparently, you're supposed to set up your sleep system in your tent more than half an hour before you get in anyway, so everything lofts up. This may need a second inflation after your breath inside cools off. My harbor freight inflator didn't have an adapter for this valve. No big deal, it worked when I held my hand between them. I want to buy the insulated camo one next. The wide one could be fun too.

I LOVE this sleeping pad! As a side-sleeper, I tried tons of sleeping pads "designed" for side-sleepers, but still woke up with excruciating hip/shoulder pains. After lots of research into solid, warm sleeping pads, I came across this pad. I will NEVER go back to any other pad! The only small issue I have with this pad is that it takes me a while to inflate (I'm a shallow breather). If you're looking to go ultra, ultra light then I wouldn't recommend this. BUT if you're looking for a comfy night's sleep on your side, this is the pad for you! Extra bonus: it won't break the bank.

Great for what it is

For a lightweight, insulated sleeping pad, you get a lot for the price! It packs up really small, likely due to the "static V" design. When it's inflated it is pretty comfortable for a semi-minimalist pad. It strikes a good balance between packability, lightweight and comfort. The material is durable, and relatively quiet, which is a plus. Only downsides I can think of are the "v static" where there is no inflation allow for you to feel any roots or rocks you may have set up camp on top of. Also, while it is insulated, it can get cold, the idea of the v-static is great, but the practical insulation struggles to keep you warm in the coldest of nights. Overall this is a great pad if you're a "camper", those brand new to camping might take a night or two to adjust, but that's the fun of it!

This is my spare

This is my spare. That I end up using more than my Insulated Nemo Tensor Alpine. Because I don't want to harm the Nemo because it was so expensive and seems more fragile and is too warm for summer. And because I guess my recent trips have been less extreme - like car camping and shorter backpacking overnights. I have no complaints though. I have used the Klymit Insulated V in the shoulder seasons and all summer and have been plenty warm and comfortable, even as a side sleeper. No punctures or sagging either. If I'm doing an alpine multi day backpacking trip, I'll take the lighter Nemo. If I'm headed out in the middle of winter, I'll take the warmer Nemo. Otherwise this Klymit pad is everything I could ever want in a relatively light, actually pretty comfy pad. I suggest also getting the pump sack with this. It makes pumping it up less dizzying, faster and puts less moisture in the pad. Also, regarding warmth: While it is "insulated", I don't think I would use this pad on it's own in below freezing conditions. I would likely pair it with a reflective foam pad at the very least to give the warmth a boost.

Sleeping pad

The pad works well so far. Wildland firefighter is my use for it. Stays inflated and have had good fortune with the klymit brand on previous sleeping pads. This one has a new patent pending inflator design that allows for the pad to be inflated/deflated well. Only critique I have is sometimes it’s hard to get the restrictor design that you flip to deflate/inflate can be a little tough getting to flip back and forth to operate which ever direction you’re trying to do. Wonder how long it’ll hold up and work correctly. Other than that I have slept well on it and it performs as it is intended.

Great pad, but *NOT* 4-season

I've only been camping with it *twice* now. Take this review with a grain of salt, I don't have tons of experience with the specific product. This was done during the Spring, night temps dipped into the low 50's/high 40's. Rain all night, damp conditions. Paired with a Kelty Galatctic 30 down sleeping bag. This is probably the limit when it comes to temp. I was on the edge of being cold. I was wearing thermals under a t-shirt & sweat pants with Merino socks. I am small, ~130lbs, so that plays into my body temp regulation. But if you're going to end up in weather below 50 deg, I'd probably get something with a higher R-Value. This comes in at 4.4. Not the best. Sold as a 4-Season pad, it's really a 3-season pad. Would NOT recommend winter camping with this pad. Otherwise, super comfy, super easy to blow up as I was not winded after inflating, not the best in packability, as it's probably on the bigger side for light/ultra-light backpackers/campers. Served it's purpose, though and I will continue to be happy with the purchase and use it until it breaks!

After camping with this pad many times now, I can say that it is a solid inflatable pad. It is easy to inflate and the one-way valve works very well and is easy to flip (inflate/deflate). The way the pad is designed, there is always cushion where you need it; I've never 'sunk through' to the ground, even when the pad was not fully inflated. My only two (minor) gripes: it is a little narrow, if I were to do it again I'd go for the double-wide; and closing the valve cap takes some finagling in order to get it to close without accidentally flipping the valve and releasing a little air.

A little narrow, but amazing for a cot

I could make due with this on a backpacking trip or a bivy after a climb, but its a little too narrow for me. I'm 6'1 and have wide shoulders and thighs. So laying on my back I feel a little balancey trying not to go over the side. Even at 205lb it has held air perfectly and I use my lungs to blow it up so I never get it perfectly full anyway. But the best thing I've used this for is insulating and cushioning my cot. I turn a Coleman cot into a motherloving queen pillow top when I'm car camping. Love this thing.

I Iused Insulated Static V Sleeping Pads for work and with the scouts. I recently opportunity to use this sleeping pad, during a frigid 29 degrees overnight, so I definitely needed the insulation of these pads. As I get older... I slept better I have on the past few trips out. The sleeping pad was easy to inflate, the held the inflation well overnight, and were quite comfortable. I am a side sleeper, so finding a comfortable sleeping pad can be challenging. This sleeping pad was fantastic, and I would recommend it to anyone! 5 out of 5 stars!!

Can’t beat the price!

There are features that may market better in more expensive pads but this thing is perfect and it’s cheap. I’m a side sleeper and even when I let air out to make my pad softer, my hip and shoulder stay off the ground. If you’re spending over 100 dollars to go “ultra” then you’re shopping in a different field, but for the little bit of backpacking that I do, the quality of sleep on the static v has been so valuable and the weight is plenty light. The insulation is good for three season camping but I’d say if you’re camping, not backpacking, it’s cold, and you’ve got a partner, then get the double v and eliminate the gap between pads; it’s your biggest heat saver.

Packable and light weight

I’ve been using this pad this summer and it is very packable and light weight and would certainly do well for adventuring off the beaten path. Car campers are likely to prefer the XL size as the regular is a bit narrow. For base camp I do also put a foam pad under it for a bit added comfort. The valve structure could be improved. You can’t get leverage on the valve when blowing it up and the closure is a bit tricky to snap in place. I will be updating in the near future about cold temperature performance.

So far so good!

I have only used this product for a couple weekend camping trips but I have no complaints so far. Evening low temperatures were in the mid-upper 30s(F) and this sleeping pad was a great buffer from the cold ground. I slept on this in only a sleeping bag (rated to 40F) and I did not get cold in the night. It’s really quick and simple to inflate and deflate without needing any extra equipment. As a bonus, it packs down into a compact pouch so doesn’t add much bulk or weight. Very pleased with this purchase!

Grand Canyon Guide Approved

Expert Recommendation Content As a Pro Guide in the Grand Canyon, I need to sleep well over many trips in a season... With the rock that makes the Canyon famous, I need a pad that'd durable and cozy enough to NOT feel the rocks I am sleeping on. This pad does it all for my "shoulder" seasons when the temps at the River dip into the 40's. Its not ultralight by any means and Klymit has other options for that- I went for comfortable and durable and got both at a very fair price. Works great for side OR back sleepers alike!

Good support in a tiny package!

This packs down really small for an insulated sleeping pad while still providing a good amount of support & warmth underneath you. This is my go to for 3-5 day bikepacking trips on the coast where it’s chilly at night but hot in the day cause if needed I can still nap on it when it’s hot and be okay, while also being warm enough to keep me happy and sleep at night.

My go-to sleeping pad for any occasion! A side-sleeper’s dream!

Expert Recommendation Content This pad is EXTREMELY comfortable and durable--especially if you're a side sleeper like me. It always kept me warm on lengthy backpacking trips in Colorado. My ONLY downside for this sleeping pad is that my valve busted after a summer of intense use. However, Klymit repaired it for me quickly and I've had no problems with the new one! Definitely recommend!

Great All Around

I got this as part of my first sleep since out of college. It has been with me through the Southwest, Sierra Nevadas, and Northwest Montana. Drys quickly and is comfortable for tent, car, and hammock camping. I’ve had it going on three years now. Great starter sleeping pad that will last years if taken care of.

3 years and still going

I've camped with this pad in temps down to 10F and during the summer. I've used it in my hammock and with my dogs. It is durable, comfortable, quick and easy to blow up. The only thing I don't like is the spin air valve. It can be tricky to to close. The pad is also a little on the narrow side which is great for being light weight, but not so great if you move around a lot.
