I most recently used this for a seven day trek on the West Coast Trail. It's an excellent light weight pack with plenty of space. I had no issue fitting all 40 lbs. of gear into the pack with only my trekking poles looped onto the side straps. I'm 5'6" and the pack fit great and with the integrated air frame it was very comfortable. We had no rain during the week, so I can't comment on it's water repellency.
The only negatives I found were:
- the straps tended to slip while hiking, especially the ones on the shoulders to the brain of the pack. I ended up applying hockey tape to the straps to help keep them in place.
- While there is a hanger for a water bladder and slots for the hose on either side of the pack, it would be great if there was a sleeve in the pack to separate the bladder from other contents and to help keep the bladder upright and in place.
- The air frame held air so well, it was actually more difficult to get the air back out. The vent on the inflation bulb didn't seem to work.
I would highly recommend this pack.
