Great sleeping pad

Expert Recommendation Content I purchased this pad to take to BSA Sea Base in St. Thomas. I needed a sleeping pad that I could pack in my carry-on for our flight that would help make sleeping on a sailboat bench seat for 5 nights bearable. This did a great job. I used a pump to inflate and deflate each day before we packed up and sailed to our next location. You can probably blow it up, but I I found a cheap pump that doubled as a light so it just made the work that much easier.

Worth the Weight

I take this with me on my solo backcountry/wilderness ventures. At 6'0" and 225 pounds, I have abused many inflatable mats in many different climates during my military service. The Static V Luxe wins hands down as my personal best air mat. Since retiring, I experience problems with fractures in my lower spine and torso nerve pain. These conditions affect me most when I sleep. However, sleeping on this mat I experience complications far less than a traditional mattress. It's durability has been reliable throughout many uses. However, I am still very cognizant of my tent sites to avoid any punctures. My next purchase is the insulated version for my late Fall/late Winter outings.

Nice, Warm, Big, Not too Heavy!

This is the 4th pad I have from Klymit. I bought this one for my winter backpacking/ mountain trips here in Colorado. My mountaineering tent is narrow and this takes up most of the floor of the tent. Which is great cause if I have someone with me we can split some gear to lighten the load a little. I have 3 of the smaller versions of these. I like the big pad to cause I always wind up coming off my sleeping pad at night so my legs gets a little cold on the snow. I’ve used this in subzero temps and never had a cold spot. For its size it’s really not that heavy and is slightly bulkier than the smaller version. I will say I’ve had to send back the smaller version 3 or 4 times due to the valve failing BUT Klymit stands by its warranty. They replaced those pads each time. Just make sure you test the pad before your trip. I do love the valve style otherwise. Super quick and easy to inflate after a day of skinning up to 12,000 ft.

Tall side sleeper

I am 72 inches tall. every regular sleeping pad is typically 72 inches long. Having a "just right" sleeping pad hasn't left me with a good amount of head or foot space in the might. Additionally, I am a side sleeper and sometimes roll back to my back. The XL width of this pad is amazing to "catch" me in the night when I need to roll. I really like that when I am on my back sleeping my arms are on the pad and not the ground. Other pads are narrow and require me to place my hands across my chest (like a mummy) to keep from getting cold. Being a more free sleeper comes with challenges, but having the XL pad has been a nice addition to my gear, even with the slightly added weight. I mention in other posts that if you are more conscientious of weight and want fast and light, then this might not be for you. I however really prefer a good night's sleep to be refueled, refreshed, and rejuvenated in the morning. I do not see myself getting rid of my larger sleeping pad before other "heavier" gear.

Super Comfortable, Great customer service, issue with Valve (resolved)

I purchased two Luxe pads and used them on a camping trip for a few days and quickly realized they were so much more comfortable than any pad I had ever slept on. I then decided to take one with me on a 30-day field training exercise and was disappointed when it developed a slow leak about 2 weeks in. Turns out it was the flippable inflation valve and upon request from climate they exchanged it for a new pad no questions asked. I would buy another Klymit product but make sure you test it out on a less demanding trip before committing to a long grueling trip with no backup.

Love this sleeping pad

I have to say it packs down very nice and small and it's perfect for me as it's SO wide. I didn't think it would be as comfortable as it is but it's great those baffles are amazing. It seemed thin at first as when you kneel on it you can obviously feel the ground through it but once you layon this thing.... Ugh it's Amazing! The ONLY gripe I have is that it's very loud whenever you move. If it's only you it's not a big deal but if your with others, they might have something to say. Overall I'm very happy I can easily say it's the best I've had

Slept on for 7 months straight

I initially bought this sleeping pad for a Grand Canyon backpack, It was great for 5 nights. Collapses down to the size of a coke can and is very comfortable for side sleeping as a giant (I am 6'4" 260 lb). But the real reason I am giving such high marks is because I slept on this pad every night for nearly 7 months straight on the floor next to our new born's crib (so that momma could get some sleep) and could sleep on my side comfortably. Over those 7 months the pad never lost air and never had an issue . My only complaint, but this is an issue common to all inflatable sleeping pads, is that it's a touch noisy when moving sleeping positions.

Giant, comfortable, but a bit noisy

I took this pad backpacking in the Uintahs. It was quite comfortable and seems to be durable and well made. I noticed that when it got colder, before bed, I had to put more air on the pad, which makes sense. It did not lose air during the night. It was noisier than I thought it would be, but not horrible. I also think it is probably a better pad for car camping, because it is somewhat large and heavy (it takes up almost the entire width of my two man tent), but the extra size makes it more comfortable, so it may be worthy it to you to carry the extra weight.

so so so comfortable

I used to be a young spry man. I'm 6-3 and I used to sleep on a small-sized mummy mattress in order to shave ounces and I'd have a stiff upper lip about it. no more. I'm a middle aged guy who loves to get rad when he can, but I'm no Conrad anker. enter this mat. damn this mat is luscious. it's so so so comfortable. I'm a thin guy and this thing is so wide I couldn't possibly imagine rolling off. like, it's the size of the Ottoman Empire in a good way. and I thought the texture would bug me out, but nah its like magic. you don't know its there. interesting side note: when you sit on the mattress you think 'oh no I can feel the ground!' i.e. if you put too much pressure in one place, it doesn't really work. but then when you lay down, it magically distributes your weight all over the thing and its like sleeping on my tempurpedic at home. would I hike Everest with it? maybe not. but for car camping or a lite overnight backpack I can't imagine going without this.

Good for the price

I took this with me to an Oregon fire after a walmart foam pad failed me at a California fire... it held up surprisingly well and took 20 breaths to inflate. I was quite comfortable on sleeping on the ground. I do wish it was insulated- but with 27 degree mornings, it probably would not have made much of a difference. I like the size (I am 5'7" 210lbs) and it fit well in my SD meteor 4 tent. I can not speak to its durability and longevity yet as I have only used it on one trip for 12 days. I will be interested to see how many fore seasons it holds up, but the seams seem to be pretty solid.

The Static V Luxe is better than my mattress at home!

Expert Recommendation Content I have slept on this pad almost daily for a month now while working at a Boy Scout camp for the summer. I have it paired with a cot and I get better sleep on this setup than I do my own bed at home! I have not had to add any air since I have been here. It's amazing, it's comfortable, it's sturdy, it's the best camping pad I have ever slept on!

Big and very comfortable.

Expert Recommendation Content This pad has tons of room to stretch out and relax. I used it last summer for 2 weeks in scout camp and slept fantstically. I am a big guy and a side sleeper. There was always plenty of room, and it had plenty of padding. It remained inflated for most of the time and only needed to be topped off once. This pad made the difference between being tired and uncomfortable and having a great time with my sons.

Static V Lux

Absolutely wonderful! If you are someone that works out and has bigger shoulders you understand the pain of rolling off your sleeping pad or having the feeling of hanging off. This pad fixes those issues. It’s wide enough to lay flat on your back and thick enough to sleep on your side if you wish. I have had no issues with this pad deflating throughout the night. The packing size is relatively small for the amount of comfort you get on the trail. (Slightly smaller than a 12oz Nalgene)

Best of comfort/lightweight

I think this is the perfect combo of a comfy, but compact pad. It packs down fairly small for how thick and wide it is. It’s perfect with an insulated foam mat underneath on cold nights (without buying an insulated pad). I’m also 6 ft tall and 200 lbs, so this fits me really well. This mat is definitely for people looking for comfort and a light pack

Good for bigger guys

I've tried a variety of sleeping pads and this model is the most comfortable for my frame. At 6'2" 215lb I need something supportive and this does the job. I'm primarily overlanding in my Jeep but I sleep outside in a tent so weight is not an issue but packability is important. This condenses down very small just wish I got the insulated version.

Comfortable and good size

I’ve tried a lot of pads, Nemo, Big Agnes, etc... Its as comfortable as most other pad brands, wide enough for me. I can sleep with my arms to the side and feel like they are not falling off the sides. I’m 6’1” wide shoulders. Aired down a bit, it’s thick enough to sleep on my sides. So far durable. Great value and quality for the price.

A must have for camping!

I was skeptical at first when shopping for mattresses I could take with me on camping trips or when I'm on deployment/field exercises. I wanted something that would collapse but not sacrifice comfort over space. This answers the mail on both ends and its held up well over the 3 years I have owned it. Super comfortable and glad I bought it.

Double Up

I purchased 2 of these pads so I could use them with my 2 person sleeping bag when camping out of the truck bed. They proved to be just the right solution to getting those bed bumps from hammering into our backs/hips while we catch some rest. I would recommend these pads to anyone looking for a good solid sleeping pad whether you're in a tent, truck or on the dirt.

Very Comfy

Very comfortable pad. Feels like a regular air mattress. Inflates in 10-20 breaths for me. It was originally difficult to pack down, but I found a Youtube video demonstrating how to do it and it was then really easy. Packs down about the size of a 32 oz Nalgene bottle. I would recommend this to someone who prefers comfort over weight/size when backpacking or a car camper. I plan to use it primarily for car camping and as a pad for crashing at friend's houses.

I run a federal wildland fire engine with 7 folks and we all use these sleeping pads in some of the most undesirable locations, sleeping on the ground. I've never had an issue with them puncturing, they are wide enough for a broad shouldered guy and they pack up small. My only complaint would be that it takes a while to blow them up

Awesome

I took this down a 5 day river float and, as you can imaging, there's not a lot of room on a raft so the less space camping gear takes, the better. This mattress was perfect, it was easy to blow up and comfortable to lay on while packing down to a bag I can fit in my hand. I highly recommend this mattress

Best sleeping pad out there

I've used many sleeping pads while camping and hunting - and this is the best one, hands down. The packaging says that it inflates in 20-30 breaths and I find that to be pretty accurate. Its very thick- and if you do a good job inflating it, you can definitely side-sleep quite comfortably. Excellent product!

Great for big guys

I think it’s a great product, just a little bit heavier than I would like it to be ideally. As a 280 pound side sleeper I have plenty of room and it has yet to deflate on me. Other pads I’ve used have decompressed or never had enough to keep my hips and shoulders from touching the ground. Well built product!

Great Sleeping Pad

I love this pad. It is pretty light in comparison to other options I have used previously, but not so light that you are gritting your teeth sometimes wishing it was a little more supportive. I am not a tall guy, but the extra length makes positioning myself on it less of a pain. Super easy to fill and empty.

Great pad for softening a hard bed.

I work in the Gobi desert. 4 or 6 weeks at a time. The beds here are way harder than I'm used to and I wasn't sleeping well at all. I picked this pad and now I'm sleeping fine. Ideal solution for me. Need to add a half breath or so every 10 days maybe. I'm more than satisfied with that. I should have picked up a pillow at the same time. Packs small enough to have in my carry on, no problem.
