Resort skiing and snowboarding gear

Chasing powder stashes or snacking après? Build a gear kit with these expert-loved products to look good, feel good and ride good at the resort.

Men’s resort gear picks:

Expert favorite: Lib Tech Snowboards Orca Snowboard

This Lib Tech board stands out with its unique versatility. Experts say it handles big lines, deep powder and everything in between.

“Best Quiver Killer ever. I’ve had several Orca’s (2nd edition, 4th edition and the 1st edition Orca split) and I just love it so much. It’s a board that feels like it can do pretty much anything and more than anything it is FUN to ride in all conditions. As long as I’m on a single board budget I can’t imagine myself buying anything else.”

Women’s resort gear picks:

Expert favorite: SMITH 4D MAG Goggles

SMITH 4D MAG Goggles are a favorite among experts for their wide field of view, impressive clarity and easy lens-swapping technology.

“Great optics! I have been using Smith optics (goggles and sunglasses) for resort skiing, backcountry travel, and other outdoor pursuits for years. I have tried others, but I always come back to Smith for the quality, durability, and features such as easily interchangeable lenses, and lack of fogging. Beginners to experts can depend on Smith.”

Backcountry touring gear

If you’re crazy enough to think that skiing is better when you’ve earned your turns by slogging uphill, then you’re in good company here at ExpertVoice. Assemble your touring kit with expert-approved products.

Women’s backcountry touring kit:

Expert favorite: Sweet Protection Switcher Mips Helmet

This Sweet Protection Helmet is recommended by experts for its comfort. Experts also love the magnetic buckle system that makes it easy to clip the chin strap, even with gloves.

“I bought this helmet because the helmet I had was pretty packed out and didn’t fit my head. This helmet is incredibly comfortable, and fits well with multiple goggle brands. I have the Matte Sea Metallic color, and it’s just incredible. Its muted but is fun colored and goes with everything. I would recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a nice helmet that fits well. Also the ear flaps are so nice, I love the stiffer ears, very warm and removable.”

Men’s backcountry touring kit:

Expert favorite: Mammut Men’s Stoney HS Pants

Experts recommend these pants for touring, saying they offer the perfect balance of weather protection and breathability.

“The Stoney HS were my go to ski touring pants for the last 5 seasons. They finally ripped and I had to replace them, but I got a lot of skiing days in and tend to be hard on gear. Miss them dearly. The pants are lightweight, comfortable, and stylish. They breathe nicely on the uphill and keep you warm on cold days. One small caveat: the waterproofness eventually gave in after several seasons when skiing in wet snow. Couldn’t fully replenish it any more even with Tech Wash, but this is to be expected I suppose. Highly recommended, my favorite snow pants so far.”

Backcountry safety gear

Stepping into the backcountry in the winter comes along with a list of risks. Manage those risks with this full kit of safety gear. Here are some products for your backcountry kit.

Expert favorite: Mammut Barryvox

One of the most recommended protects on ExpertVoice, the Mammut Barryvox is praised for its ease of use, reliability and impressive range.

“This is my second Barryvox and I can not be happier with this product. It’s small and light and the harness is comfortable. As someone who does 30-40 days touring a year i look for something that’s reliable and straightforward. I trust the Barryvox and look forward to using one for this upcoming season. It’s hard to find a beacon at a better price with as many features.”
