In 2017, almost a million experts engaged on ExpertVoice — 979,457 to be exact. With an average of 31,000+ users interacting with our platform daily, that’s more than the 30K career points LeBron James has scored — but less than the number of times you’ve heard the song “Let It Go.” We also saw 1,000+ new experts sign up to join ExpertVoice every day.
Every industry has a need for expertise — industries like fitness, culinary, pet, tactical and more. With more than 30 categories and
500+ brands, our community of experts are as vast and varied as Katy Perry’s hairstyles. And while 60% of our experts are retail associates who make brand and product recommendations for a living, there are also 40% who aren't.
These non-retail experts are harder to identify at first, but once you understand the qualifications, you’ll begin to see them all around you; they’re your colleague who runs ultramarathons, your child’s Boy Scout Leader, your neighbor who’s a photography aficionado. An expert is someone who has the passion, experience and knowledge that people turn to for advice and recommendations on what to buy. While this is often a sales associate at a retail store, it could also be your aunt whose primary mode of transportation and favorite topic of conversation is cycling.
How do these experts help your brand?
First, let’s break down how ExpertVoice works.
Experts get exclusive access to top brands, giving them the opportunity to learn about the brand’s story, innovation and products. After engaging with a brand’s content, the experts take a short quiz — we call this an Edu-Game — and unlock their brand discount. What do they do next? Shop 'til they drop, to the tune of about 100MM. After all, having personal experience with a product makes an expert’s recommendations more authentic and valuable to potential buyers.
In 2017, our experts spent an average of 19 minutes learning more about the brands they love and completed over 24 million Edu-Games. Once they unlocked their exclusive expert discounts, they went on to purchase 1,453,627 products from the selection of 56K+ products we have in stock.
They also provided over 60K brand insights, sharing with brands why one product is favored over another, where they have buying conversations, what products they’d like to see in the future — or anything else the brand wanted to know. These insights are extremely helpful as they provide brands with information that matters, information they can use to bolster brand loyalty and increase their sales. Gaining expert insights is one of the most impactful ways a brand maximizes their partnership with ExpertVoice.
Another major benefit: an increase in sales. Experts are 4x more likely to recommend a brand after they engage with it on ExpertVoice and our retail experts sell 87% more after engaging with a brand on our platform — seeing a 9.5% lift in their sales. Since 82% of consumers are highly likely to follow an expert’s recommendation and experts have 15x more buying conversations than the average consumer, it’s time to get experts on your side.
