Mark Anderson self-admittedly stumbled into the world of professional golf while attending college, working an internship with a local PGA Section. Today, Mark is fully immersed in the game as a certified fitter for several major golf equipment brands and is passionate about helping his members reach their full potential on the course. “I would rather have one of my students shoot a career low than personally shoot a career low myself,” he said.

What makes you an expert in golf?

“I have been in the industry since 2010. In addition to being a Class A PGA Professional, I have spent some time working on the club manufacturer side of the business as well. I have taken many continuing education classes and have tried to immerse myself with as much knowledge as possible. I have had 10+ years of teaching and club-fitting experience, and there is no substitute for the knowledge you gain from repetition.”

What do you love about the benefits of being an expert?

“I take a sense of pride in the fact that people seek out my advice on certain products and services, but the best benefit I get from the platform are the discounts!”

What’s a recent achievement you’re proud of?

“I recently traveled to Carlsbad, California, where I received training and certification as a “Certified Master Fitter” for a major manufacturer.”

What’s your best advice for someone looking to get into golf?

“In baseball, someone has pitched a perfect game. In bowling, someone has bowled a perfect game. In golf, there is no such thing as a perfect game. For the person looking to start playing golf as a hobby, have plenty of patience! Limit the amount of information you try to digest with regards to learning the swing on your own and seek out a golf professional that can help you learn the swing. As you begin to get more advanced, make a financial investment in getting fit for clubs. … You wouldn’t play baseball with a bowling ball, so why would you play golf with clubs that aren’t fit for you!”

What are a few of your favorite products discovered on ExpertVoice?

“In the golf section, I am so happy I found the Vortex Anarch rangefinder. Although you might think all rangefinders are the same, the image stabilization feature on this model sets the standard for every other rangefinder moving forward. The Golf Prizm Oakley Mercenary glasses are a staple of my golfing wardrobe. I love the lens technology and the clarity they provide with the contrast between greens. The TaylorMade Spider S putter increases stability on off-center strikes, and I have found the alignment tools on the head so easy to help me with starting line. Off the course, I have added rollerblading to my workouts and I was able to stock up on some great gear from the brand Rollerblade.”

What’s in Mark’s bag: Vortex Anarch rangefinder, Golf Prizm Oakley Mercenary glasses, TaylorMade Spider S putter.
