Where are you from?
I’m originally from Hebron, Nebraska. It’s a little town near the Kansas/Nebraska border and home of the world’s largest covered porch swing.
What do you do for a living?
I currently work full-time at a bank as a Specialist in the Warehouse Lending department, part-time as a Shift Leader, and training class coach/mentor at Fleet Feet Lincoln.
I see you’ve been running for close to 20 years now. What initially sparked your interest in long-distance running?
Trying new things and being a part of a team was what initially led me to try running, but finding an outlet to deal with grief, depression and anxiety at a young age was when I started to truly love the sport. I ran cross-country in high school and college; I have since run everything from 5ks to 50ks and still absolutely love it!
How do you fuel your body before, during, and after a long run?
Before a run, I love using Nuun Hydration Ginger Lemonade, and Honey Stinger Waffles – the cookies and cream flavor is so good! During my run, I use Honey Stinger Cherry Blossom or Orange flavored chews, and if it’s really hot out – Pickle Juice. If I’m doing a longer run, I’ll pack a baked potato with a little salt in my vest to snack on. After a run, I use Nuun Hydration Watermelon or Strawberry Lemonade. I also really love chocolate milk and a banana or pizza post-run.

What is your go-to running product from ExpertVoice you can’t live without?
Oh that’s a tough one! I’d say my Altra Lone Peak trail shoes – they’re just the right amount of cushioning and protection on more challenging trails.
You’ve already accomplished a lot in your running career, do you have any additional goals you are still hoping to achieve? If so, how do you expect you’ll be utilizing ExpertVoice to achieve some of those goals?
The last few years I’ve started running more trails, and have a goal to do a 50 mile trail race, maybe even longer distances in the future! As far as using ExpertVoice to help me with that goal, I’ll continue to stay up to date with the education offered on ExpertVoice, and to eventually order my next pair of Altra shoes, Honey Stinger and nuun hydration products to fuel my running adventures!
What is your favorite brand (or brands) on ExpertVoice? Why?
Altra, Garmin, Honey Stinger, Nuun, and Pickle Juice are among my favorites – I appreciate that these brands offer education as well as a discount on their amazing products to help make runs much more enjoyable. The educational aspect also enables me to make great recommendations on products to customers, coworkers, and fellow runners while working at Fleet Feet Lincoln.
